Mrs. Voorhees is dead, and Camp Crystal Lake is shut down, but a camp next to the infamous place is stalked by an unknown assailant. Is it Mrs. Voorhee’s son Jason who didn’t drown in the lake some 30 years before?
This movie is pretty good. Not the original that the first one was, but still good. It is a little less on the tensiona and style that the first one had, but good. I don’t love this movie but i don’t hate it. it is ok.
friday the 13th part 2 was to me just as good as the 1st one was. Jason had a awesome mask in this film and this movie made me jump a few times.(I have a surround sound system and i was watching the movie with the sound all the way up at midnight last night.) I thought this movie was pretty scary and had some really good kills. good way 2 bring jason onto the screen for the 1st time.
This one (in my opinion) is better then the first! Awesome movie!
The original is scarier and more atmospheric, but if it wasn’t, from a technically stand-point, it’s hard to tell the difference between the two. Both are trash, but they’re both equally as poor.
Not as good as the first but still doesn’t stop this from being a great sequel some say better than part one not quite as good but still a very memorable sequel very recommended especially if you loved the original. The teenagers seemed to be around the same as the original actors acting still was good at all (Friday the 13th never had good teenager actors) Score for me seemed about a bit better than the first. A great sequel.
Definetly the second best in the series because it was the first time jason appeard and i liked alot jason first mask.
Not even matching what little flair the original had. The only words to describe this is Waste of a good storyline.
Great sequel to the classic.
I loved the hooded jason version, it’s funny looking and strange, this one is pretty similar tot he first, except this time it’s really jason killing…classic stuff.
Great sequel to the original.
As a young lad, “Friday the 13th Part:2″ never really quite satisfied me as much as the movies that followed.
Not enough killings or blood,….and no hockey mask!! A recent viewing of this classic sequel provided this reviewer with a much needed refresher course in Camp Blood trivia. Part 2 has a lot going for it. Most notably, it is a nice look at the beginnings of a horror cult icon in his heyday.
While many of the killings in Part 2 go unseen or unbloodied, there are a few goodies that work nicely. We get a great psychological profile into the mind of Jason, which proves to be quite compelling indeed. Solid scripting, great production design and some good acting help this sequel to work masterfully. And although I have always been a long supporter of the hockey mask, there is just something truly dreadful (in a good and scary way) about seeing Jason run around with a burlap sack over his head.
This is the young, impressionable, hillbilly Jason… a character whose anger, rage, and depravity make him hard not to love. It’s all very creepy …and very effective!! While still not my personal favorite, “Friday the 13th Part 2″ proves to be a solid, insightful, and very entertaining sequel in the long running successful franchise.
Like Its Predecessor Friday The 13th Part 2 Manages To Deliver A Pulse Pounding Scare Marathon.
Out of the entire series, parts 1-4 are my favs. Part II goes a little deeper into the Jason legend. One of the best scenes for me is one of the simplest ones. The campfire sequence is the first image that comes to mind when I think about Part II. John Furey did a masterful job of telling that campfire tale. It’s an A-Z 8o’s slasher flick. I only wish that the kills weren’t edited so much. Hopefully since they’re releasing the original film uncut, the other sequels will follow. The older films(1-4)just seem to have a more realistic/human element to them. The atmosphere, the use of light & shadow. If you believe in the environment in the film, it makes the story more believable. The rustic countryside, campsite, gave the film a very down to Earth quality. The new horror films just seem a bit too polished for my taste. I like the low budget horror much better. They just seem to concentrate more on the scares & less on the look, which is something that’s sorely lacking in horror these days, although there are exceptions here & there. What I mean is that the location doesn’t look like it was just built the day before filming began. It’s been there a long time, there’s a history there. It’s old, worn, & dirty. That’s what makes the older Friday films stand out for me. I think if they’d have stopped after Part 4, it would have saved the integrity of the series. Jason was killed off & the story came full circle. I do like bits & pieces of the newer films, but the heart of the franchise resides in parts 1-4. That’s my two cents on the subject!!! I’m Quint’s Machete & I approve this review!!!
The first two movies of friday the 13th just build up to how great the 3rd is. The second features Jason with a bag on his head, I wonder if the starngers to homage to that..hmmm…..Anyways the final scene is really good, very classic. Great franchise, first 3 films are good, after that the series gets stale.
One of my fav Friday The 13th movies. Acting is good and the blood effects are alright.
Great movie acting was great , kills were good . The first four films were great i dont know what happened after that. The campfire seen was great and the seen with the spear in the bedroom was cool(dont hav sex cuz u know what happens). The first four Fridays were some of the best horror movies of all their low budget and that makes them great. I wish they would make more movies like these now
Part 2 , like the original has such a creepy , edge of your seat feel to it that I love and is suspensful in all the right places. The kills and blood are pretty good , especially the double impalement. When the movie starts to get to the climax it really hits high gear and the tension ratchets right up. A great sequel in the franchise as are parts 3 and 4. I believe the first 4 are classic Friday movies as they were actually fucking scary.
I think this is better than the first! The first takes longer to get going but this one has all the mystery in straight away and builds up to a very memorable climax! This also has loads of jumpy moments and I even screamed once! Which isn’t what I usually do!
Another classic. And the sack is back Febuary 13th 2009.
I Love this instalment in the Friday the 13th series…it’s dark, brooding sense of impending death and isolation, and I liked the iconic sack “mask”, and people say all sequels are bad?. The deaths are good but I feel in places they are edited…. the storyline is good, Acting is good, and it the film in which Jason finally appears….a must for you dvd collection
Friday the 13th Part 2 is actually better than the first. It has more suspense, terror, and blood. The body count is definitely bigger than the first and there are actually a few “jump” scenes. The sequel has everything the first one has, and uses the thing it does have and improves on it, which is a plus. Although Part 2 did miss something. The acting. The original there was at least two characters I liked, in this one, almost none. But it’s barely an issue. Every movie usually has bad acting. Overall, Part 2 is a worthy sequel. If you liked the first, you’ll definitely like this.
One of, if not the best installment of The Friday series. I love the grittiness almost exploitation feel of this film at some points. And the Pre-Zombie Jason has always been way creepier to me than the later films. I
This may be the best JASON movie. There are a select few that I find EXTREMELY well made. Those are:
and that’s pretty much it. Part 7 was OK but it wasn’t as good as these four. I could list them in order, but I don’t feel like it.
ANYWAYS. The look of Jason was just amazing in this one. I love the potato-sack. It’s just classic. And Jason without his mask was pretty scary. He looks like a scottish farmer mixed with Sloth from the Goonies. The main protaganist (Ginny) is a GREAT actress. The chase scene at the end and the part where she wears Pamela’s sweater is just freaking awesome.
My favorite death scene would have to be either Alice’s death in the beginning (only because she was the survivor from the first one) or Jeff and Sandra getting impaled together with the spear during Sex. HAHA. These dumb teens should learn that if they have sex, they’re dead.
I watched this for the first time again since I bought the boxset in 04 and I forgot how good this one was. It has definitely moved up on my Friday the 13th list. Just wish that hot girl got a proper deah scene (the one who swims nude).
obviously the films a classic but i dont know theres a little something missing for me….i love it but i just love the original more….no particular reason…but i just love the original that bit more
the best of the entire series…scary, suspenseful, erie, beleivable…
A must see for fans!
a classic movie, the suspense is awesome, new fans like me get to see the how jasons legacy as a killer began, and the kills are creative. a must have horror movie, the music by the composer has you scared whenever the scary moment is. nothing will make you stop the movie, it is a must see
my favorite in the series …hell yeah sack head!
my favorite friday the 13th!
Really liked how they picked up the story; the whole thing with his little shrine to his mother. Plus the burlap sack was cool.
Ya know, I take back my review of the first friday, I think since the first and only other time I saw this movie while I was having sex, that it really threw off my perception! The first friday SUCKED DICK! It was sooo stupid and boring! I saw it the other day and wanted to turn it off. This movie on the other hand was the best one in the ENTIRE series! It was really cool.
Friday the 13th Part 2 is definitely up there with greatest sequels. The first one was great with the mother being a surprise killer at the end, and then Jason takes on her legacy in the next one. I did love the sack head, but nothing beats the freakin iconic hockey mask I mean come on. That girl that was hitting on the dude in wheelchair was sooooo hot, she was stabbed and then dragged down the stairs while still alive, very cool! Jason is the man! He fucking own Michael any day of the week!!!!
This is my favorite Friday The 13th sequel. Such great death scenes too! A perfect 10 is what I’ll give it!
better than the first…what can you ask for?
my favorite friday the 13th
A Great Sequel For This Series These People Back In The Days Knew There Shit Just Take Some Elements Of This Film It’s Too DAMN Good!
Jason’s first solo adventure is entertaining enough, though Jason had yet to become the presence he would. In this flick he’s much more of a backwoods boogeyman, but there’s some decent kills & it’s enough to carry the series on to better (and worse) days.
i thought it was sick, one of my favorites out of the series
good movie for an old one
A decent followup to the all-time classic and has some good deaths. Amy Steel is a total badass throughout, and definitely has its suspense.
This is one of those situations where I actually liked the “Sequel” better than the Original! With that said, this Movie picks up some time after the events at Camp Crystal “Blood” Lake! A bigger Cast of Camp Couselors this time and each one seemed to represent “a deadly Sin” or is that just me, anyways, An “unknown” Assailant is stalking the Camp Grouds and Picking them off one by one, “I wonder who that could be”? By the Time our Heroine ” as all these movies have one” “Ginny, the wonderful Any Steele” figures it out, its too late and a battle for survival takes place!! Yes this Movie uped the Anty on Killing, the more the Merrier, and did so in Unique Fashion, each one more twisted than the last, and may I add Memorable, especially the double Spear Penetration, I mean “Ouch”! It also goes against the Grain even for a Friday the 13th Movie for not only does it give us a “smart, sophisticated and clever ” lead Character in Ginny “once again, Kudos to Any Steele” who not only drinks Beer “Bar Scene” but also has “Sex’ with Paul, her on again/off again Lover for they do spend the night together while that Old “your all Doomed” Perv is watching them right before he gets his, and who didn’t cheer on that one? Now as avid Viewers of the Friday the 13th Movies, we Know, you just don’t do these things and live to tell about it!! This Movie is Entertaining, Scary at times and Funny at others, Good Characters “even if most them are on screen long enough to Die Horrific Deaths” and the “Jason” Character isn’t some walking Mutant Zombie, But just a “regular Sized” Fella with a deformed Face, a Fetish for Pillow Cases, and Long yearning for a Hug from his Mama!! Yes, by pt 3, the “Hockey” Mask became a permanent Staple of the Jason we all love and hold dear in our Hearts, although its nice to see his “Humble” beginnings!!! Yes, this is One of mine or possibly my Favorite Friday the 13th Movie , its still debateable, but definately see this Movie and then you’ll know why, without a Doubt, why the “Remake” can’t hold a Cleaver to this one!!!
I liked this fun sequel. Jason’s first reign as the killer in the franchise. Was one of the better sequels
Sequel? why not…awesome sequel by a different director,it had the same vibe as the first one and the same atmosphere feeling, this one i saw with my family and still couldnt go to bed.
As far as I’m concerned, this is the one and only Friday The 13th that matters. It is Friday the 13th, and it is everything most of us know and love, it gave us what most think of when they think of the movie, Part 1 set the stage, and Part 3 was probably my second favorite, and one of the last that really mattered, I love this movie, the decade, the effects, the characters, the overall look and feel, this is the horror/slasher.
not as good as the first one, but still a little scary if you ask me. i expected to finally see Jason in his hockey mask, but seeing him with a pillow case was only okay, but seeing what he looks like? well…damn!
Fun, some cool scenes.
My favorite film in the series! For some reason I found Jason to be his creepiest in this flick, he really had the backwoods, freak going on hardcore. Plus I’ve always found the burlap sack mask much scarier than the hockey mask. His run down shack and alter with dear mommy’s head just tops it off as well. Besides for Jason, I also really enjoyed the cast in this one…the lead actress did a fantastic job. A perfect score from me.
The first appearence of Jason as the infamous killer he is today, a true Friday classic
Friday The 13th part 2 In my opinion the best Friday in the series.
After seeing The heroine from part one “Alice”get an Ice pick through the brain and The decapitated head of Mrs Vorhees in the Fridge I knew this was going to be great.
In Part 2 we get the first glimpse of Jason as an adult and he is far more menacing than his mother who was a 50 year old woman.
The original gets props for originality but not for it’s plausibility.
Also ,Amy Steele gives a much better performance than the original heroine Adrienne King.
The kills in part 2 were better as well as the characters”sorry Kevin Bacon”.
Even though in the first Friday in the end we do get the jolt of a young deformed Jason jumping out of the lake to drag The last girl standing”Alice” into the water”very scary”.
In part 2 we get that same jolt when an assumed deceased Jason jumps through the window after the encounter at the shack with “Genny “and “Paul” where he has set up a shrine to his beheaded mother Pamela Voorhees .At this time in the franchise we didn’t know Jason was indestructible so it was fair to assume he was dead even though I was hoping he wasn’t “YET”.
In Part 2 see him wearing a burlap bag over his face save one eye as well as his hideous face for an instant when “Genny” pulls the bag off.”gnarly”.The infamous Hockey mask was not introduced until part 3.
All in All one of my favorite Slasher movies of all time.
Hands down, Friday The 13th is the greatest horror franchise known to man, but Part 2 was a bit boring at times, it seems like a 2 hour movie, but it’s really one of the shortest ones in length of the series. There’s a too much suspence in it, and not much gore (blame it on the MPAA). Oh well whenever I watch it I skip to when the killings start happening, the end chase scene was great though!
There was no reason for this to be made. Part 2 is my least favorite part in this series.
better than the first becase of jason.
Not as good as the first. But a great movie anyway!
This is a great small budget film The one that really started it all to me this is the 1st friday. good kills and great eye candy. A true b-movie classic. ( but the ending kind of sucks.)
I really likeall horror films. This is grade B as Evil Thing put in. To me film’s like this needs to be re-released every five years just to keep the hype-live. To me this is good and bad. Not the best Friday but really fun to watch. The mask that is introduced in Friday 3 is just the start of Jason. 6/10.
This film was better than Part 1,3,4,5,6,7 and 8. This is just an emmensely good film. Jason was such a good Killer. I mean. This was low budget and the actors wasn’t really ready for such a sequeal but they pulled it off. Still the best Friday the 13th film. Much better than the first.
This is my favorite Friday. I love the chase scene at the end its one of my all time favorites. This is Jasons first movie as the killer, although he wears a burlap sack he is still a creepy fuck.
For being a B grade movie this is beyond good it’s excellent.
This in one of my favorite entries in the series!
i love the scene where jason runs across the road! was that big foot? lol, one of the best in the series next to final chapter.
it is not as great as the first Friday but still good and its the first film where the killer is jason i love the bag mask its not as creepy as the hockey mask but still scary as hell it would give it a 65
Great sequal. Basically the same story, but with a twist. We are finally introduced to Jason, one scary S.O.B. The make-up effects rock, and the performances are fairly decent. The only thing really wrong with this sequal is the ending.
my 3rd favourite in the series (2nd is Jason Lives, 1st Final Chapter) has great kills and Jason running around with a sack on his head haha
i always think how lucky the teens who went out drinking were in the end!
After just working as a camp counselor this past summer, these films have become a lot scarier and more entertaining. This is one of the best the series and Amy Steel is absolutely adorable! See it!
This movie was the birth of one of the most iconic killers around.
This film is superior to the first film in cinematography, photography, and has a more seasoned cast (with the exception being Betsy Palmer in the first film). The ending isn’t PERFECT but still much better than the initial idea of having Mrs. Voorhees’ eyes open at the end to signify Paul had been killed. Thank God they scrapped that.
I love the music and the atmosphere. The lush setting in Connecticut is beautiful and creepy at the same time. Overall, probably my third favorite of the series. Of course, this only includes 1 through 4. I won’t watch anything after The Final Chapter.
one of the best sequels
The scariest and most realistic of the series.Hillbilly Jason is the man.
1, 2 and 4 are the best….end of story!!!
This movie and part 3 are the best of the series.Thats whasup.
I didn’t find Jason scary in this movie at all , why would anyone find someone with bag over their head scary. I liked the fact this was not that long movie, which made it bit better.
A true Voorhies slasher classic!
This Friday wasn’t as good because the MPAA had them cut from all of the murders. If they would release this uncut it would probably be awsome.
I am not a fan of the original and I hardly remember it. I own this sequel on DVD and I love it. It’s a slasher classic, indeed.
One of my favorites in the series, I personally liked it better than the 1st one since Jason was the killer in this one and not Mrs.Voorhees and there were more deaths, plus the chase scene with Ginny and Jason was pretty cool.
Friday The 13th Part 2 is a big improvement over the original Friday The 13th. This has a new plot and a group of new characters since Alice the survivor from the original Friday The 13th makes a short appearance in the film and dies we are now introduced to a group of new characters and this is Jason’s first introduction before in the later on sequels and his first mask which is the potato sack is a really cool idea before he gets the hockey mask. Now this movie had high and great expectations and this movie has more scares and it is more violent than the original Friday The 13th. What I like about this film is that the opening scene before Alice gets killed was a really freaky scene because that scene really freaked me out the head of Pamela Voorhes in the fridge was really a perfect scene for the film and the whole movie has the same atmosphere like the original Friday The 13th. This movie has some of the nastiest and the most gruesome kills in horror movie history. I’ll never forget the kill scene when Crazy Ralph gets strangled with barb wire in the throat that was a nasty kill while the best kill in this film is the one when Jason kills the cop by using the back of the hammer and he impales it on his skull that was a pretty brutal scene also. All the scares in Friday The 13th Part 2 are completely updated over the original so far and the acting is really good. Director Steve Miner did a good job with his directing in Friday The 13th Part 2 along with its sequel Part 3 in 3D. Overall Friday The 13th Part 2 is the best sequel in all of the Friday The 13th franchise along with Part 6,7,Jason Goes To Hell and the 2009 reboot.
What? I haven’t reviewed this movie yet? What is there really to say? Classic 80′s nightmare! The site won’t let me review the first one for some reason, so my rating stands for both films.
Not too bad of a follow up to the first film, and playing with the psychologically of Jason and his mother in the final confrontation was a nice touch. I suppose not knowing that Jason is the killer ahead of time might have made for a more enjoyable experience, but I can’t really turn back time…OR CAN I?! More information here:
Jason’s turn!Great sequel to an incredible original.A must own for Friday The 13Th fans!
Bag-head, hillbilly Jason is the best!! I love pre-zombie Jason, and he kick’s some ass in this sequel. Another creepy ending makes this one of the best of the F13 sequels.
One of the best in the series. I like it better than than the first movie. This is before Jason got the hockey mask, so he has a sack over his head.
Wow, I really like this one. It’s a big improvement over the first one, and I like how Jason looks in this one. I’d have to say that this is one of the best in the series.
The series continues now with Jason seeking revenge for the death of his mother. I have to say, I’m so glad they ditch the sack over his head. Had they not, I probably wouldn’t love these movies so much. Nah…who am I kidding I’m a sucker for the slashers!
my personal favorite of the series, i loved the whole myth of jason and his kills were great, it had this classic fell to it, especial the wheelchair part, one of the best slasher i’ve ever seen
Don’t matter if you are in a wheelchair. Jason has no mercy. Gotta love that old shack he lives in too.
This is probably my least favorite of the “good” Friday moves. It is the first time Jason is the killer but without the hockey mask and muscles. Jason is small, clumsy and un-scary in this one. He looks like a mad hobo. I find it hard to believe a character as iconic as Jason had an introduction like this I see part 3 as the true intro of Jason. It’s mainly just a lower quality remake of the 1st not much different, also the window jump at the end is clearly trying to outdo the infamous canoe ending to part 1 but this one is just not as good. I do enjoy this one however and it is a great entry to the series I just think it could have been done a little better.
