Kate Beckinsale Offered (Other) Lead in ‘Total Recall’

The ever so sexy Kate Beckinsale (Underworld, Whiteout, Van Helsing, Vacancy) – who would be part of my own person “Total Recall” – has been offered one of the female lead roles alongside Colin Farrell in the Sony Pictures remake Total Recall, reports Deadline who adds that she’s been offered to play Lori, who was portrayed in the 1990 Paul Verhoeven-directed actioner by Sharon Stone. She was an obvious choice considering her husband Len Wiseman is directing the pic. Duh. READ MORE

This Week’s ‘Netflix Instant Edition’ of Horror In Your House (Vol. 3)

March has been a HUGE month for instant horror releases with just over 60 films added through the midpoint of the month. Yeah, that’s a lot and great news for genre fans. Instead of listing them all I sifted through them and have chosen to highlight ten films that are worth a watch that have been released in March and three that absolutely suck. Enjoy! Best & Worst ’10: HORROR GUY KEENAN’S TOP 10 OF 2010

It was a rough year finding good horror films in theaters. The last two years seemed to have some great gems. Not to mention a lot of theaters pulled some great horror movies out way to early (but I won’t go into that whole shenanigans right now). I had to look elsewhere for decent horror and stumbled upon a few I think will be soon to be classics. So read below and check out my top list of 2010. (more…) READ MORE

Best & Worst of ’10: DAVID HARLEY’S BOTTOM 5 OF 2010

Writing this year’s worst-of list was a lot easier than its counterpart; as pure luck would have it, I was only brought to a boiling rage by eight horror films this year! My lowest recommendations of 2010 fail for a variety of reasons, ranging from a clear lack of vision and funds (my biggest pet peeve) to worst use of music ever to shameless capitalization of a name brand. One entry is so bat shit ridiculous and unintelligible that it gave me one of the biggest laughs I had this year, which makes me wonder whether or not we’ll all see it as a big joke in another five or ten years (wait, my future self just informed me that’ll never happen, but it was fun to think about for all of two seconds). Finally a New Dean Koontz Adaptation: ‘Odd Thomas’ Speaks to the Dead

Production Weekly reports that Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, Van Helsing, Deep Rising) is eyeing to direct his adaptation of Dean Koontz’s popular “Odd Thomas” book series. Odd Thomas is silently approached by the ghost of a young girl brutally raped and murdered, and through his unique ability to understand the dead, is psychically led to her killer, a former schoolmate named Harlo Landerson. With this opening, we are introduced to Odd’s world. Koontz soon discloses how Odd was named and begins, layer by layer, to show how Odd’s disfunctional upbringing has shaped his life, and as those details are uncovered, his supernatural abilities begin to make more sense. Read more over at Wiki or on the official website. We’ll update you when something official is announced. (more…) READ MORE

‘Vamps’ Casts Sure As Hell Doesn’t Bite

The incredible Wallace Shawn (Clueless, Toy Story, Monsters, Inc.), joins Justin Kirk (“Weeds”), Dan Stevens and Todd Barry (“Bored to Death,” “Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” “The Sarah Silverman Program”) as the new additions to Amy Heckerling’s Vamps, which also stars Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter, Sigourney Weaver, Richard Lewis, and Kristen Johnston. Vamps tells the modern day tale of two young beautiful female vampires (Silvestone & Ritter) living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize her immortality. Shawn will portray Dr. Van Helsing, a well-known vampire expert and hunter; Kirk will portray Vadim, a Russian vampire always on the prowl for a good time; Stevens will portray Joey Van Helsing, a college student smitten with Stacy (Ritter) and; Barry will portray Ivan, blood-thirsty vampire Cisserus’ (Weaver) loyal assistant. Filming begins this week in Detroit, Michigan. (more…) READ MORE
