This is like a turd-sandwich garnished in crap-tastic CGI. barely palpable

Talk about overkilling something, this film goes way beyond over the top than what was necessary that it’s depressing to see so many great characters of film like dracula, the wolf man & etc be in such a silly film, cgi’d to death and beyond and the thing that upsets me the most is it COULD have been a great great film using some of the ideas and concepts, it’s just how it was mapped out and executed and overkilled that ruined the entire supossed fun of the film.
    what a shame!

    Ugh.

Come on Hollywood, you can do much better than this! With the huge budget and stars this movie had, you should have produced something at least watchable.

    Hollywood… shame on you.

I loved it. Love the mix of the monsters, and the uber hot vampire bride, teamed with Kate and her accent. Not the best but I love it!

Yuuuuuppp. If Van Helsing has taught me anything, it’s this stuff:

Only a werewolf can kill a vampire.

Dracula has a convenient werewolf serum.

Dr. Frankenstein only created the monster to assist Dracula in bringing to life his undead babies.

Dracula has a Fortress of Solitude.

Frankenstein’s monster has superb acrobatic skills.

Vampires can fly around in the daylight.

A horse drawn carriage can fly over a 50 foot chasm.

If we’re ever in danger of being destroyed by fantastical creatures, the Vatican will send out one sexy guy with a gun, crossbow and some nerdy dude in a habit to save the day.

If a movie has sexy people and lots of explosions, other conventions (such as plot, story, character development, talent, originality and charm) are unnecessary.

Yes, this movie is a total load of shit and you people who helped it reach box office gold are what is wrong with society.

Jesus christ. Only good thing about this movie was the Kate Beckinsale eye candy. Josie Maran of The Gravedancers also stars as one of the three sisters, so I’d watch it for her.

Way too much crazy CGI going on. If it wasnt for that and how fake some of the things looked than I would have liked tis a lot more.

so my g/fs hot sister loves this movie, but i dont like my g/fs sister, so i get to call her an idiot. Saying you like this movie is like saying you like the underworld series, or saying the queen of the damned is your favortite movies; sure they have actors and actressess you love, but lets face it, if they didnt those films would be in the realm of “when strangers call,” or the lovely film with jessica alba about a bad eye. This movie was garbage, if you want vampire hunter watch the blade series, and yes i think those are much better than this movie

I love this movie. Never understood the hatred for it so F all the haters.

Yes the one liners get old and cheesy after 10 minutes in but there is so much cool sh*t going on in this movie. And it has the best werewolves imo. Its just a rollercoaster ride, not a film.

God, I love this movie! How did you people not have fun with this?! Of course you’re not suppose to take it serious! But damn it was fun! I could watch it over and over when I want to watch some fun action/supernatural fun! I just dont know why everyone feels the need to take every movie so serious ESPECIALLY when this was part of the summer blockbusters!

It’s like the Monster Squad without the good camp, and a brooding hero that just doesn’t fit into the cheese. If it didn’t try so hard it might have been a fun time, instead you laugh due to its failures. Yet another example of large budgets not being the only ingredient necessary for a good film.

‘Van Helsing’ is a 2004 adaption from the Dracula movies into an own movie about himself & his story. The special effects in the film were pretty well made but did lack & could tell when fake part were made in the film, the storyline/plot was cool & I throught it did really well for it’s background check with it’s monsters to and had really great gothic/drak themes, with also the monsters were given good special effects & make-up artist.

i dont think this film is as bad as its made out to be, by all means, its not perfect and its no classic but that doesnt take away from the entertainment value of it. slightly cheesey but thats not so bad every now and then!
