AMC is opening up the world of “The Walking Dead” with a second spinoff series, arriving next year. Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Aliyah Royale and Annet Mahendru will lead the cast, with Nico Tortorella also landing a lead role in the untitled spinoff series.
Deadline adds today that Joe Holt (“The Punisher”) will recur in the series. “Holt will play Leo Bennett, a solid family man and respected professor with a generous heart and unwavering optimism for the future. He’d risk his life to save the people he cares about.”
We don’t know all that much about the series other than the general approach, but we do know that Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct the pilot episode.
The series is said to feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it.
The 10-episode first season of the series will premiere on AMC in Spring 2020.
