stupid and dumb
This movie is one of the best horror films i have seen in a while it is funny smart and well funny as hell (i know i already said that)If u havent seen this movie then watch it is worth it and the best part is no CGI was used (excpt for the Weresheep transformation)
This film is good fun. I laughed quite a bit. And it’s a great idea too. It’s what horror is all about, sitting with your mates with some beers and nibbles, and saying at the end of the movie, “That was soooo silly but sooo funny”
It was alright, I just didnt really understand some of the humor and I thought that it was dumb. Its really not that bad of a movie though, its just really weird.
“Silly” is the perfect word for this movie. This horror-comedy is one that makes you stand back and gasp, immediately followed riotous laughter. The creature effects are the best part.
It wasn’t stupid, boring, retarded, or confusing. Don’t take reviews that say any of that too seriously, because those are all things the movie was going for.
That said, it’s also not that good. Mainly that was due to the lack of any plotline at all, and lack of any major action sequences at all.
I don’t ask for much plot in movies like this, but a little bit of a cohesive story wouldn’t have hurt anything. A little less boring scenes and more actual focus on the sheep and their attacking wouldn’t have hurt either. It had an INSANE amount of potential, but it didn’t use even half of it. Instead it tried to characterize clichés with legs and tried to have some sort of plot that collapsed in on itself. With such an original premise (well, compared to yet another monster movie) it’s just sad to see such clichés.
Funny? Not really. As I said, way too much lame characterization and “What’s going on?” dialogue.
Gory? Once again, not really. There is one scene with comical mass bloodbath, but other than that the movie is basically goreless. And the gore that is there is so generic and “seen a hundred times” that it’s really nothing to get excited about.
Overall, worth watching on TV for free. Maybe worth a rental. I don’t see why anyone would go out and buy this, though. It had a lot of originality, but just as much wasted potential.
While this is not the best horror/comedy to come out of New Zealand (thats a tie between Brain Dead(or Dead Alive) and Meet the Feebles) its still pretty funny and the creature effects are very good. I think you actually have to be from New Zealand to get all the subtle humor though. There are a lot of jokes about people from the city/ country etc that may not be that obvious unless you know that they are talking about. I found the taxi meter ticking over through the whole movie hilarous, but maybe thats just me…
was pretty good
This movie was soooooooooo much fun (And Nathan Meister is hot!!!). If You think a flock of evil man-eating sheep sounds entertaining… Then get this movie, it’s definitely for you!
This movie was never meant to be taken seriously. It’s actually a very funny comedy with lots of gore. I own the DVD and have watched it several times. It still makes me laugh! One of my favorites.
This movie was good and the sheep were bahhhhd. You can’t take this serious.you have to sit back and laugh with it. Several good gore scenes. Definitely worth watching
If you dig comedy/horror flicks, this one is right up your alley. not only is the story completely out there and humorous, theres tons of fake blood and gore. it is a little campy and cheesy at times but that was the intention. besides, how can you not like a movie featuring bloodthirsty mutant sheep? i highly recommend this to anyone out there that can enjoy a horror movie that shouldnt be taken seriously
What a fun morbid little movie this was, who ever thought there would be a mutant killer sheep movie? i thought it was excellent, almost shades of 80s types of horror films with experimental animals gone wrong, very funny and gory movie, the plot was a tad silly but they understood that and made sure to not take themselves to seriously and for that, they did a great job.
killlla sheeps
Is there a better Midnight movie? God, i love new zealanders.
I love the funny, gory kinda movies!!! If you liked Dead Alive, you will probably like this one!
The BD Review got it exactly right this time (wow!). ‘Black Sheep’ is a gory horror comedy that is entertaining to watch, and is an export from New Zealand! I guess we can count on Australia’s little emo brother to supply us with sweet bloody and disgusting entertainment, and their winning streak hasn’t ended yet (Bad Taste, Braindead, Undead, and now Black Sheep!). This film mixes humor with gore in some very creative ways, and justifies at least two viewings. My only gripe is that the blood really starts flowing toward the very end, but this particular scene is one for the ages. I will never look at sheep the same way again…
HAHAHA HOLY SHIT! This movie is absolutely ridiculous! The effects are amazing, the gore is…well… delicious seems like a good word here. I saw this movie on the shelf at Wal-Mart and laughed out loud at the cover and thought to my self, “I have got to see this.” So I bought it. And it is a happy addition to my collection of horror movies. The story is hilarious, and completely ludicrous… and at the same time intriguing. A must watch in my opinion! No one can pass up mutant zombie sheep… no one!
Never before have sheep been more terrifying. The special effects were amazing and the storyline and dialogue were hilarious. The scene of the big meeting with thousands of sheep storming the hills was amazing. Because of what the movie looks like looking at the cover of the DVD, many just might throw this off as another low-budget horror film that does not even try. But this film was simply amazing and I would recommend it to anyone, even if you are not a fan of horror you will still get a kick out of the comedy. I love this movie!
I absolutely love this movie. I don’t know how many other people like a little comedy with their gore, but I certainly do! The moment that I heard this movie was about man-eating sheep I knew I had to see it! I actually had a mini viewing party for this movie. I invited several of my friends to watch it, and we all nearly died laughing. There was quite a bit of blood (which was good) and just as many laughs. But, I have to say the were-sheep thing was the best part. I love how this was both a horror and a parody. Favorite line: “I’m not a tree! I’m a fucking sheep!” Nuff said.
Killer sheep! Do I need to say more? When I first saw the preview for this movie I was psyched for it and it did not disappoint. The concept was executed perfectly and what it delivered was a bloody good time for sure with some great dialogue to top it off. All the scenes with the sheep attacking and biting chunks out of people were spot on funny. And the evolution of the were-sheep was classic. The only complaint that I have is that I think they could have done more with the gore but I understand why they didn’t. Overall this was an amazingly funny and gory good time which I can not recommend enough to fans of absurd splatter fests.
This movie has got to be one of my tops. It sounded like it would be a enjoyable movie, but I didn’t think I would absolutely love it
absolutely amazing.
This movie was a hoot…..what they think of killer sheep great……this was a very funny movie more then scary the plot was great why not we have other animals killing why not sheep….I really like the look of the movie the farm was beautiful….I also like the humor of the actors so I would rent this movie.
This movie was great and really fun.
Nothing better than a sick ass kiwie flick. I watched this a couple years ago I think in Berlin. Just a great sick-fun-overthetop movie to watch while cranking a few beers and laughters.
-D
It was ok…
this was an enjoyable horror comedy ahhh sheep.
The whole idea is fucked up and i loved it.
Were-sheep… nuff said really.
I went into this movie expecting a really dumb but entertaining horror movie, the typical killer animal b-movie trash you catch on late night TV.. Then I realized the effects were done by Weta “The Lord of The Rings” Workshop, which gave it some points. But after actually watching the movie, I was suprised at how well done and funny it was. The cast did well in thier roles, the sheep creatures were really cool, and the whole plot was so absurd its hard not to enjoy. This movie is one that you have to give a chance too, because you will definetly be pleasently suprised.
great creatures,
great gore,
great (and cute) actors,
great time..
great!
Whoah…. I must have been on drugs when I saw this movie because I thought it was absolutely horrible, complete trash. But everyone here seems to have enjoyed it… I almost feel like I have to watch it again but seriously this movie sucked! Bad acting, bad plot, bad creature fx, just plain silly and stupid and not in a comical manner to me. hmm..
fuckin’ loved it! Awesomely refreshing. Good gore which is a must. Def. check it out!
Fabulous, absolutely loved the filme. It’s a classic NZ black comedy horror up there with Bad Taste and Braindead. Loved the scene where sheep attacked the people sat at the outdoor presentation, blood n gore n carnage galore hahaha
Great film!
this movie was great, killer sheep rampaging through new zealand loved it
Idk what to say to this movie? This movie was very gross and disturbing, but very funny. This film is ok.
Its a fun horror comedy worth seeing
The second they introduced the zombie sheep baby I was like, “Oh my god yes!” It’s been a while since I’ve seen such awesome gruesome puppetry. And, for the most part, the movie keeps up with the old school creature feature effects.
This would’ve went down as a classic if it wasn’t for the lame cop out ending. Seriously, I was expecting so much more than a big fart joke. Oh well, the movie is incredibly entertaining up till that point.
And for those who bitch about the cheesiness: stop watching movies that are so blatantly cheesy. Period. I mean, the main character has a fear of sheep and then gets confronted by a whole island full of zombie sheep! What the fuck did you expect?
A crack-up of a movie, I loved this. Definitely weirder than those same-same horror movies that seem to get thrown out by the dozens now but in the best possible way. Loved the ‘weresheep’ and the ending was by far the best I’ve seen in a long time!
Loved this movie! I love all the nods to Dead Alive in this movie! There is a scene in this movie that is just like the lawnmower scene in Dead Alive…. but with a helicopter. There is also a scene very reminiscent of “An American Werewolf In London.” All in all there was great gore, awesome nods to great horror films, and did I mention this movie is absolutly hilarious!?
I was expecting a movie that was so bad that it was funny, but boy was I wrong! This movie isnt worth many words. It takes itself too seriously and it is VERY boring.
Dumb, dumb, DUMB! One of the stupidest fucking movies ever filmed… but luckily that was what the creators of this flick were going for, and they pulled it off perfectly. Not the best horror-comedy, but pretty damn good.
I hate sad people who crticise horror-comedys saying thier not scary. Horror-comedy gives it away this film is funny & reimnds of dog soldiers.
Jonothan King is the next Neil Marshall.
Black Sheep reminds me of Peter Jackson’s early work.(Dead Alive)
This was a really funny movie. It tries to be serious but the whole killer sheep concept made it funny even when its not even trying to be funny. It was a bloody, funny good time. I enjoyed myself a lot while watching Black Sheep.
Very boring.
Average.
But still a bit funny…
The use of real animal and animatronic effects in this instead of overloaded computer graphics make this totally enjoyable. The rabid sheep gore is done well and cool to watch–the animals did some of the best acting I have seen in horror movies this past month lol. I thought the orchestrated music for the movie was a nice touch as well. A very entertaining and fun horror experience–glad it is in my collection since I think it has great replay value.
this is the perfect movie to watch when you and your friends are sitting around getting drunk. it’s funny, has some good gore, and even when ripping flesh from bone sheep are still adorable…. not a masterpiece, but worth watching none the less
You have to love it when New Zealander can take the piss out of themselves and at the same time can make a movie out of it.Funnily enough this film was turned out to be a classic I would recommend this to anyone who wants a laugh or two.
Hilarious tongue-in-cheek horror comedy set on a New Zealand sheep farm. Zombie/werewolf sheep, gore galore, some great lines, what’s not to like? Loved every minute!
This movie was super weird but hilarious at the same time. There were scenes where I couldn’t stop laughing and scenes where I couldn’t look at the screen…I guess that’s the thing I like about horror comedies.
I’m excited for a new indie film from Scotland called “Attack of the Herbals”. From the synopsis and clips I’ve seen on MovieSet.com, I’m sure viewers will definitely get the same eeriness they experienced from Black Sheep. Check it out here: http://bit.ly/b5fuAl ENJOY!
Bad, but at least it was funny
I thought this was an absolute hoot! I had a great time watching this, the idea of zombie sheep is just genius. The film is hilarious with some great gore and some funny characters and screenplay. Black Sheep achieved its goal in having a good time. It’s all about fun, don’t take it seriously just go with it!
this movie was really entertaining to watch!! i thought that it was a really funny story. the special effects were pretty good, loved all of the over the top gore!!!! and, even though it can’t be very hard to make New Zealand look beautiful, it was a well filmed movie. definately must see!!!
Great film full of laughs and over the top gore.
A gory, moderately entertaining diversion. Worth a rent.
WAIT, what a movie about Killer Sheeps :0
I loved it, fun and gory
One of the very few New Zealandian horror flicks I’ve ever seen (apart from the films of Peter Jackson and “Mr. Wrong”),
and it’s a decent one.
“Black Sheep”, a funny horror comedy about a herd of killer sheep. Not as great as I expected, but still pretty enjoyable.
The plot is silly but hilarious. The acting is absolutely nice, especially the entertaining performances from Nathan Meister
(playing a guy with sheep-o-phobia), Tammy Davis (constantly delivering brilliant one-liners) and Danielle Mason (playing a tree-hugger called ‘Experience’).
There are plenty of wonderful gore scenes (lots of intestines, torn off extremities, a bitten off penis…), goofy-looking quasi-zombie-sheep and a few cool-looking non-CGI transformations.
Furthermore, it’s full of really amusing dialogue,
f.e. “Do your hormones really need balancing? – “Considering I’ve been attacked by genetically-engineered monsters, jumped off a moving vehicle, been chased across a paddock, dragged into a torture chamber, pulled into a mountain of rotting flesh – yes, my hormones need fucking balancing!” /
“What about the sheep?” – “Fuck the sheep.” – “No time for that, bro!” /
“Dude, you learned that on university, did ya? (pause) …before you dropped out.”
Unfortunately, the script is lacking any flow, there’s not much suspense and some scenes were even a bit dull. I also didn’t like the abrupt ending of the intro sequence and the totally disappointing climax.
Overall a flawed but enjoyable film, recommended to fans of “Severance” and “Bad Taste”.
6,5/10
One of the most weird and bizarre movies I remember seeing is so weird that I did not know whether to laugh, scare me or anything else. And we can not believe what we’re seeing.
The movie itself is entertaining and certainly would cause us more of a smile. Many times during the movie I was about to get up and stop seeing it, ’cause it seemed to me very stupid and pathetic but I never did and saw it through.
I’m not sure what kind of film is, is horror?, a comedy?. a combination of all this?
Weird film.
Yet another one I didn’t exactly like… but I also didn’t hate it either.
I wouldn’t watch it again, but I’d still recommend it just because its worth seeing at least once.
Well that was bloody interesting.
Seriously, it was very bloody. And it was entertaining. I liked it, aside from the not-so-good acting and the cheap gimmicks, it was pretty fun. Gore fans will be pleased, fans of early Peter Jackson (Bad Taste, Dead alive, etc) will be pleased, and fans of horrors that don’t take themselves seriously will be pleased.
I even really liked the ending. The only reason I gave it a six, was because it was very unoriginal, and got kinda boring around the middle. Plus the acting was off, and some parts I just didn’t buy.
All in all it’s good fun.
One word: weresheep. That should be enough to convince you. If not, consider how disgusting, gross, and gory it is, and that it’s sheep doing all the damage. Priceless.
