Morgan Creek’s Dream House isn’t going to be able to contain all these egos. The production company has added Rachel Weisz (The Lovely Bones, The Mummy) to the cast alongside Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale, The Invasion) and Naomi Watts (The Ring, King Kong) in the thriller Universal Pictures will distribute. Jim Sheridan is directing from a David Loucka script. The story centers on a successful publisher (Craig) who quits his Gotham job and relocates his wife (Weisz) and two daughters to a quaint New England town, only to discover that their perfect new home was the murder scene of a mother and her two children. Warner Bros. is bringing Stephen King’s landmark horror novel It to the big screen in an adaptation being produced by Lin Pictures and Vertigo Entertainment. Dave Kajganich (The Invasion) has been hired pen the script, which follows a group of kids called the Losers Club that encounter a creature called It, which preys on children and whose favorite form is that of a sadistic clown called Pennywise. When the creature resurfaces, the kids are called upon to regroup again, this time as adults, even though they have no memory of the first battle. The novel is set in 1958 and 1985, though the feature version will be set in the present day. “It” was the best-selling book of 1986 and in 1990 was turned into an ABC miniseries that starred John Ritter, Harry Anderson, Tim Reid, Annette O’Toole and Richard Thomas. Today Warner Bros. revealed the first teaser one sheet for Oliver Hirschbiegel’s The Invasion, a quasi-remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The film – which was almost completely re-shot by the infamous Wachowski bros. (The Matrix, V for Vendetta) – is now looking for release on August 17 (more on that here). The Invasion tells the story of a mysterious epidemic that alters the behavior of human beings. When a Washington D.C. psychiatrist (Nicole Kidman) discovers the epidemic’s origins are extraterrestrial, she must fight to protect her son, who may hold the key to stopping the escalating invasion. Pictures has once again changed the date of The Invasion from November 02, 2007 to August 17, 2007. Sure it’s a swing in the right direction, but this is the longest game of musical chairs I’ve ever seen.
