Two More Catch a Glimpse of Dark Castle’s ‘Apparition’

Sebastian Stan (The Covenant) and Luke Pasqualino have both joined the previously announced Ashley Greene (Twilight) in Dark Castle’s forthcoming haunt flick The Apparition, reports the IMDB. The film is set to be helmed by commercial director Todd Lincoln from his own screenplay. In the film a couple are haunted by a supernatural presence that is unleashed during a college experiment. It’s said to be based on true events. Stan’s portraying a post grad trying to figure out his life. Start date for production is February 1 in Berlin, followed by Los Angeles in March. Stan was recently in New York shooting Black Swan for director Darren Aronofsky, and can be seen in Hot Tub Time Machine later this year. (more…) READ MORE

Latest Casting for Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Black Swan’

Sebastian Stan (Spread, The Covenant) has joined the cast of Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, which centers on a ballet dancer, played by Natalie Portman and her rivalry with a fellow dancer. With the stakes and twists increasing as the dancers approach a big performance – it’s unclear whether the rival is a supernatural apparition or if the protagonist is simply having delusions. Sony Screen Gems Remaking ‘Blind Terror’

Another remake tip came in this evening (this has been one crazy mother-friggin’ month) as we were tipped off that Sony Screen Gems is developing Unseen, a remake of the 1971 classic Blind Terror (aka See No Evil) that starred Mia Farrow as a recently blinded woman who’s sent off to her relatives’ farm and what happens when they are murdered. Three More Dragged to Raimi’s ‘Hell’

Jessica Lucas (pictured inside; Cloverfield, Amusement, The Covenant), Lorna Raver and David Paymer (Tales From the Crypt) will help bring scares to Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell for Ghost House Pictures and domestic distributor Universal. Lucas will play the roommate and best friend of Stephanie (Alison Lohman), the unwitting recipient of a supernatural curse. Raver plays Mrs. Ganush, a proud Eastern European woman with an old-world belief system who, when defied and humiliated, vengefully casts the curse. Paymer will play Mr. Jacks, Stephanie’s practical bank-manager boss. Raimi wrote the screenplay with his brother, Ivan. Principal photography begins Monday in Los Angeles. (more…) READ MORE

Big Name Trio Head Into DreamWork’s ‘Ruins’

Laura Ramsey (The Covenant), Jena Malone (Donnie Darko; pictured inside) and Shawn Ashmore (X-Men trilogy) have made it to The Ruins, DreamWorks and Spyglass Entertainment’s adaptation of the best-selling Scott B. Smith novel. Red Hour Films’ Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld are producing along with Chris Bender, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The three actors join Jonathan Tucker in a thriller about a group of friends whose leisurely Mexican holiday takes a turn for the worse when they accompany a fellow tourist on a remote archaeological dig in the jungle, where something evil lives among the ruins. Smith wrote the screenplay. Principal photography begins in late May in Queensland, Australia. (more…) READ MORE

Picturehouse’s ‘Amusement’ Shoots in Budapest, Hungary

In the Picturehouse horror thriller Amusement, a disturbing childhood incident links the fate of three women terrorized by diabolical, elaborately planned ordeals. Directed by John Simpson (Freeze Frame) from a screenplay from Jake Wade Wall (When A Stranger Calls, The Hitcher), the film is produced by Mike Macari and Neal Edelstein (The Straight Story, Mulholland Drive), who together produced “The Ring” and “The Ring 2” for DreamWorks. An exploration of the worst-case fears of three fate-crossed women, Amusement stars Keir O’Donnell (Wedding Crashers), Kathryn Winnick (Failure to Launch), Laura Breckinridge (Related), Jessica Lucas (The Covenant) and Tad Hilgenbrick (American Pie Presents Band Camp). Harlin’s ‘The Covenant’ Casts and Preps Shoot

Sony Screen Gems has tapped Renny Harlin to direct The Covenant, an adaptation of the popular comic book. “The Covenant” graphic novel features a story that takes place prior to the events in the upcoming movie and follows a group of four families whose patriarchs wield a vast eldritch power.
