I can’t tell you how much I loved this movie. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen, and definitely the best horror movie I have seen in the past 5 years. Just amazing. Disturbing and totally unique. I wanted to watch it again as soon as it was over.

I have this movie in my cache of horror/gore decided to watch last night. I can see why it didn’t do well in the theater last years. Subject to off color for most, however it didn’t bother me at all. Its good to see a film made that really crosses the line. CC

Despite the few plotholes concerning the end of the film, this movie is a very different, very unsettling and a very well acted breath of fresh air to the horror genre. Jenny Spain puts on a remarkable performance in her silent role and the leads were very well cast. I just finished watching the film not 10 minutes ago and the final creepy frame of the movie is stuck in my head and I’m sure will do the same to anyone who sees it. If you’re bored with today’s watered down PG-13 crap that Hollywood calls “horror”, check this film out.

I saw this movie several weeks ago and thought it to be smart enough for the hardcore fans. It really is a decent picture with some very disturbing material with decent acting. I would tell you to watch it. even if you dont love it you will be able to recognize the talent in it.

This movie is a complete disgrace, an utter offensive, disgusting piece of garbage. Although it is a very well put together piece of garbage. I can see how it would trick some people into thinking this is a good film.

As a massive horror fan, I am in no way offended by gore, or the like, but this was just degradation for the sake of it. Repulsive exploitation with no means to an end. I’m sure the director spun some bullcrap story about how it’s all so profound but at the end of the day I can’t help but think him and the screenwriter were a couple of true perverts. Not to mention NOTHING was explained, and the end was a complete kick in the teeth.

I have to say I’m extremely disappointed. The first 45 minutes were truly unique, haunting and engrossing. The director could have made a REAL profound statement with this film. I saw the end coming a mile away. That was not a horror film I just watched. It was an exploration of Americas brutal, sick and twisted misogyny. Where is the good american horror these days???

I saw this movie well over a 6 months ago. I had looked forward to it the whole time it was in production. Although the concept and design of the story is very intriguing. The playout of the story is completely Ridiculously disgusting.I am by no means offended by gore or torture, However this movie has no horror “Movie” factor to it. Sure this film is very disturbing, and yeah different, but there is a huge difference between Horror and non-sense. They could have done alot with this film, but they never explain anything. theirs no explanation to anything. I couldnt even believe what I was watching. Almost was a Horror rape porn with a hint of a story. For me “being a women” this is not my type of horror movie at all, and there isnt much that disgust me. I see the talent in the actors, I mean they must have devoted alot of emotion into there roles to be in a film like this.

Any film that deals with the dark subject matter of necrophilia is going to be contentious. But I think this gets away with it because of the uniqueness of the story. It would have been so easy for the makers of this film to go down the sick Gratuitous torture-porn route. The premise of a zombie girl tied to a gurney and used as a sex slave should have been a disgusting and unbearable to watch. But thankfully instead we are treated to a really profound, spine-chilling, suspenseful and provocative insight in to how twisted humans can be. The whole thing is dripping with social commentary. If you were in that basement where society’s laws no longer apply, would you keep your morals?

Sad. What is this world coming to? This movie officially has me avoiding any film AICN touts as “Brilliant!” I don’t mind slow-building movies, as long as they go somewhere. I also love atmosphere, providing there’s a plot to go with it. What we do have are two actors, probably in their mid-20′s, trying to portray a couple of 17 year-olds. Sure, there’s some alienation theme resembling something from River’s Edge, but believe me, there’s where the comparisons end. Do yourself a favor and watch that movie instead… Even if it’s for the tenth time.

Just saw this one, aside from the fact, the males are pieces of shit in this fim, it did keep my interest. What a twisted fucked up premise. Wow, it was less about sex, and more about control I thought. Very creepy throughout and sticks with you.

Wow- I didn’t want to like this movie, but it sucked me in hardcore! The way they made it horrible but oddly “normal” was unnerving. The jock’s toliet “death” was very creative and gratifying (I do love revenage!). Jenny Spain was amazing and this movie was just so interesting, in a weird, twisted, but NOT glorified tortured way. It was like watching an odd documentary gone way way wrong… This one will stick with me for a while…

This is a great film. The story, acting, and effects were fantastic. The film is not only a great zombie film, but also about the loss or absence of morality and humanity. The relationships between the characters are also important, because they are such a component of the plot and how the story evolves. Disturbing, but only in the realization that people are capable of awful things.

Wow, what an fuc!ked up, sick as all hell, atmospheric, mystique and haunting indie horror gem that will have you thinking what if and what would you do in that situation. It doesn’t explain a damn thing though like how did the body of the girl get there ect. I think the acting was pretty decent for an indie and the whole build up was quite captivating in a sick and twisted kind of way and the film will definitely stay in your mind for a while because of its shocking nature. It has alot of things going for it like suspense, twisted humor, some chilling scenes and intriguing ideas but the strong lack of explaination to make any sense of the situation made me disappointed and was a pointless horror lesson in desperation and the dark flaws people can have if placed in that situation. Overall it brought something a little different to the teen horror genre and had me glued the whole way through but definitely needed a much better closure to it all big time! Wait for cable!

This was an interesting film, it features some shocking scenes and it definilty Succeeded in disturbing me. It had strong performances and the pace was good, but I thought this movie was confused, at times it’s a coming of age Art house teen drama other times it’s a horror film. In the end I thought it was a mixed bag, some good bits but some stupid moments also.

I’ll admit I found the story a little hard to believe but if theres one thing that horror movies and life in general have shown is that people are capable of some sick twisted shit. I do love how the story progressed and how usually you can see whats gonna happen happening but the opposite happens here. In the end though this turned out to be a good little flick.

So I Know Most People Are Probably Going To Think I’m A Total Freak But…I LOVED THIS MOVIE SOOO MUCH!!

Honestly When I First Saw This Movie I Picked It Up At Blockbuster One Day Because I Thought The Cover Was Cool. And Once I Read The Little Summary Thing On The Back I Thought It Was Basically Saying That The Movie Was Gunna Be Like “Two Teenage Boys Find A Dead Girl And Rape Her Over & Over And That’s It.” So Then I Went Home & Watched The Trailer For It Online and The Trailer Showed Me Nothing Different That What I Was Already thinking About It.

But Once I Finally Watched It. At First I Was Like “So Its Just Another Dumb Zombie movie?”…But Nope! I Was Proved Wrong. Yes It Involves A Zombie Type Girl,But This Is NOT A Zombie Movie. I See It As More Than Anything A “Coming Of Age Film”. Because Its All About The Friendship Between Rickie & JT. And It Shows How Even Though At First These Two Boys Seem To Really Have NOTHING In Common,And Are SO Different From Each Other,But By The End We Realize That They Really Werent As Different As They Seem To Be.

So I Thought Everything About This Movie Was Great! Both Shiloh Fernandez & Noah Segan Are Amazing Actors. And Jenny Spain,Who Plays The DeadGirl Is Also Amazing. I mean Even Though There Wasnt Too Much To Her Character It Still Looked Like A Very Hard Part To Play And She Did It Great.

All In All I Am SO Glad I Picked Up This Movie. I Give It 10/10

Very screwed up. I wouldn’t let my fourteen year old sister watch this, that’s for certain. To anyone who is mature enough to handle the content of this movie, it’s memorable and enjoyable as long as you are open minded. So, give it a shot. I liked it a lot, but it isn’t a movie I could say I love without feeling slightly guilty.

This is prolly the sickest movie I’ve ever seen, and there isn’t many horror movies I haven’t seen. This isn’t even horror! It’s more like a twisted teen coming of age I need to be locked away for life movie!Seriously those boys deserved death in every way possible!

Disgusting, VERY disturbing and VERY weird. This is pretty damn different than anything I’ve seen; I’m not sure I can even really compare it to anything.

I’m not lying when I say this movie’s pretty damn disturbing. I’m not a fan of a ton of gore (this movie didn’t have TOO much but what it did have was more than enough), but I saw this movie months ago and I still get the occasional bizarre nightmare.

I guess it is a sick coming of age sort of movie (and I kept thinking “teenage boys will have sex with ANYTHING…”).

Oh, and boys? This isn’t a movie you should show a girl on a first date. Even if she REALLY loves horror, you might want to save this one for a little later. And maybe forewarn of the rape and general weirdness of it. She may enjoy looking at Shiloh Fernandez but even that didn’t save me from being incredibly creeped out while watching it.

Gotta love reviews that just simply say “Terrible” or “Bad acting, bad writing” or “I fell asleep cause it sucked so bad”.

Really? How so? Care to elaborate? Otherwise I’m going to assume you’re just a moron who clearly doesn’t get it. Maybe you should just pop in your favorite, boring, contrived slasher film and not bother watching anything that has an even remotely original idea ever again. That way you can spare us your useless idiotic waste of space and let someone with a a real opinion speak their mind. Thank you.

That being said, this movie has way better acting than most of our “cherished” horror “classics”. Don’t get me wrong, there are the typical filler characters that exist for the soul purpose of dying but no death is a waste; each one serves as a means to progress the story. What a concept!

The gore effects (hell, the make up in general) are all top notch, without being too in your face (Hostel 2 comes to mind). Deadgirl herself just plain looks sick as shit and gets nastier looking as the film progresses and, as a result, you can practically smell the basement… which probably isn’t necessarily a good thing :P

The film is not without its faults (such as a forced love story and the general teen angst feel of it all), but I give it props for being a fresh take on the zombie genre by not even really being a zombie movie at all.

Deadgirl is a low-budget indie film with mediocre acting, sometimes poor editing, and a very disturbing plot. After watching it I couldn’t shake a certain feeling I knew shouldn’t be there and asked a friend to view it and give me a second opinion. Despite all its flaws, we both agreed, surprisingly, that we were impressed by the final product.

Two teens skip class and decide to break into an abandoned mental asylum. After drinking and vandalizing they are chased by a stray dog into a remote section of the building from which there is no clear exit. They pry open a rusted door and find a woman naked, tied to a gurney and covered in plastic – and still alive (or at least undead, depending on one’s definition). The two characters diverge at this point as Ricky wants to get help and JT wants to keep her as a sex slave. JT’s dominant personality wins out and Ricky, though not participating, keeps JT’s actions a secret. Audiences will certainly have their opinion of this movie germinating at this point, and much of this will rely on their ability to buy into the quick, horrific decision made by JT. As a side note, I live in a small Northeastern town which has a low crime rate and a sizable upper-middle class to wealthy population (even some celebrities), and about a decade ago a teenage girl was kidnapped, raped, drowned in a river, and had her corpse violated by her former friends – teens that closely resembled the appearance and background of JT. As morally corrupt a decision as this character makes, it is certainly a possible one.

Soon JT’s violent nature discovers that the girl cannot be killed and that she seems to have an uncontrollable urge to bite anything that comes near her mouth. If the viewer as not figured out what she is at this point, maybe what follows in this film should be avoided until a more mature mindset is reached. The situation, naturally, spirals out of control, and the plot takes the form of both the predictable and the pleasantly surprising thereafter, including an unexpectedly hilarious kidnapping attempt gone awry.

Deadgirl asks tough moral questions, both of the characters and the audience, that are more relevant to the horror world than the real world, but interesting nonetheless. The ending for such a film is, in a word, satisfying. I won’t spoil it here, but even if you see it coming, which I did, you may be surprised at how much you still enjoy it.

    B-

Really? People actually liked this movie? I never shut movies off, but I could not get through this. The characters were so annoying to look at and so annoying to listen to. Trip your sideburns you ‘Joaquin Phoenix in Twilight’-looking mofo! And you, stupid best friend, just stop existing.

Abherrent sex and horror themes can go hand-in-hand, but Deadgirl just kinda hangs around the tasteless and somewhat ridiculous side without growing into a decent flick. The original idea runs it’s course rather quickly, and the rest is really not that good except for a decent and satisfying ending. Not something I will watch again, but am interested to see what a friend thinks of it when I give it to him to view. Definitely a movie that will polarize people as far as opinions and reviews go.

The theme was pretty sick, and yes i know there’s lots of sickos out there into Necrophilia, but i felt sickened by these idiot’s need to stick their wicks in a lifelike corpse. The best part of the film was the attempted gas station kidnapping.A totally unrealistic scene but funny as hell, they got themselves new a**holes ripped into em’. Decent flick, though i don’t think i’ll be antsy to watch it repeatedly.

Impressive little indie film. Very interesting plot and written in way which captures the way a 17 year olds brain works. Not saying that every 17 yo boy is a budding freak but in the way they had Rickie replused by what his friend is doing but at the same time loyal to his friends wishes to keep it a secret. Some great scenes and some not so great scenes but overall this film is very good. If the script had gone and explored more of the feeling that these kids had – That this was as good as it gets for them – If the film could’ve explored more of that hopelessness and pain it could have been great.

I really really liked this movie… it may have crossed the line in some aspects, but that’s what I search for when I watch a movie! I want to see a movie that isn’t afraid to take a risk or stretch those boundaries that our society is used to. This movie had a lot of dark humor in it, and it grossed me out, but I couldn’t help but get sucked in. I couldn’t stop thinking why the hell these kids would screw a rotting corpse-like girl who may end up killing them. I was engaged and entertained! It wasn’t just about sex either… it was about searching for your own identity and overcoming the obstacles in doing so. The movie’s scenes were shot beautifully and the soundtrack was amazing! I loved the ending too… I couldn’t help but smile. I’d definitely recommend this to someone who is open to something different.. or is looking for that shock value. You will either like it, or really hate it. I love it!

well this movie wasn’t too bad.it was ok. i dont think it’s what everyone is chalking it up to be though. i give it points for originality but i kinda lost belief and the movie didn’t keep me locked in and interested. i love it when movies reel me in and i start to feel like im right there with the characters and actually start to feel for them but this movie failed to do that for me.also, i just couldn’t buy that teenagers would be that sick.and when i tried to let that go i started wondering why the main character didn’t try and stop his friend. like he took a long ass time to try and do something to stop him.also i just laughed when the guy got his arm cut off cuz he just said “ow” ur arm is missing its not just a papercut u can brush off. maybe i let the hype of it get to me, people saying that it was the most disturbing movie ever and that it’s one of the best indie horror films, but to me it wasn’t.maybe i was expecting too much idk.but i only kinda liked it. i would recomend it to people to watch cuz its worth a watch and i know a lot of people do like it but i didn’t that much.

A darkly contemplative piece of arthouse horror. Whilst imperfect, it manages to deliver a confronting take on human nature, male adolescence, peer pressure and sexual violence. The performances varied from the professional to B-grade but overall this is a worthy addition to the arthouse horror world with a hefty dose of ethics thrown in for good measure. Shockingly clever and highly disturbing.

Trent Haaga brings you into the world of perplex masterpiece that will startle every sense, catechize your being and leave you violated. In Deadgirl, you are tossed in between teenagers with broken hearts and the urge for sexual interaction at all costs. Delving into alarming temptations, Deadgirl will stick with you for days to come, and will always linger like a plague. See this movie! Even if you are not a fan of the overall story, there is no doubt that is one of the most visually appealing films since The Antichrist.

ha, i saw this movie with one of my friends about 6 months ago. just randomly flicking through ‘crappy’ horror movies.
at the start, we immediately thought it was gonna be another boring teen-slasher. but it turned out really disturbing and truly gross. a movie you knew you shouldn’t find entertaining because of what was actually happening but you didn’t turn it off.
i agree with most of the other reviews about the general creepiness of the whole plot and the gas station scene :)
i dont think it’s as realistic as everyone seems to say it is because i really don’t think teenage guys (even the desperate ones) would even go near an almost-dead girl, no matter how beautiful she is/was..
but still points for originality :D

It’s pretty original I’ll give it that, but I really didn’t enjoy this. I HATE the main character of this film, it could just because the character he played was such a complete and utter loser, though I also didn’t like him Cabin Fever 2. It was just hard to watch two guys do something like that and be meant to care about them even in the slightest, I was just hoping they would hurry up and get killed.

I saw the ending coming a mile away though which I think was the real deal breaker. Best part in the whole movie was the gas station!

Best necrophilia movie I’ve ever seen. It’s a slow burn type of movie. Deliberately paced. Very original, sick, demented, and horrific.

Great concept, the most disturbing thing about this film was the humans.

Well, I have mixed feelings about this one. It was definitely offensive (especially to my womanhood) but what decent horror movie isn’t at some point? Even though the Deadgirl is repeatedly “raped”, I feel like she’s never really the victim. She’s laying there like a silent predator waiting to attack…and eventually gets her revenge. Between the “biting” scene (which I LOVED) and the girl at the gas station, this movie actually gives some power back to the girls, which is a nice surprise given the main plot line.

I think Deadgirl makes a statement about several of life’s big issues, and isn’t too preachy about it. I do think the sex scenes were a little too much…leaving something to the imagination could have been a little more effective.

Overall, a pretty good movie, but disturbing enough that I’m sure I’ll never want to watch it again.

Surely I can agree that Deadgirl was somewhat of an original idea, however, it still fell short of satisfying me.

One of my problems with the film was that no matter how hard director Trent Haaga tried, I could, at no point, feel any pity or remorse for any of the characters. Even Rickie, the softy of the bunch, and the fim’s main character didn’t inspire me to feel anything for him, other than contempt. Although, when the bully gets his dick bitten, I did find myself cheering a little.

Personally, I would have given the deadgirl a little more personality, so the audience would feel a little more catharsis for her when they raped her spiritless body constantly effortlessly and of course, as a result, got their just desserts.

I did like how the film was shot, and was surprised regarding cinematography. So many modern horror films are lit poorly, leaving the viewer in the dark, curios as to who the screams belong to. However, Deadgirl was not, despite the significant portion of the film that took place in dark, dingy surroundings.

Overall, I did like Deadgirl but didn’t find the film to be anything special or out of the ordinary. A great idea executed in a mediocre way.

Glad I saw it, but I wouldn’t watch it again.

Deadgirl is everything people are saying it is and then some.
Sickeningly Genius in that it’s repulsive yet fascinating and has the ability to take a non homicidal, non sociopathic person,ME “a woman,no less” and draw them in to a scenerio which defies all laws of nature and humanity and keep them glued to it.
The cast was excellent and the story amazingly original.
It definitely isn’t for the squeamish.I can see how women would find it more disturbing than men ,I saw a review by another woman condemning it.That’s why we can press STOP on our DVD player at anytime if we so choose,no one has a gun to your head saying watch this film~!
Any movie should be watched for entertainment value and not as a template for morals.
I thought it was dark, edgy and well worth the price of the Disc.It also shows ranges of human behavior and tolerance not just one mindset.Genius

I really enjoyed this movie, I loved how it pushed the boundaries and I think that’s what made it such a good movie. The actors were very talented and know how to create a great horror atmosphere. As disturbing as the movie was, I’d definitely recommend it and watch it again.

This is a sick smartly written and well acted Horror classic.Considering the subject matter, it was done in a proper way to not glorify the gross act the occurs over and over. The end was predictable in a good dark way.I highly recommend viewing but be warned it’s a great slow burn movie.

“Deadgirl” is a brave and extremely sickening tale about two boys, one of whom looks like Robert Pattinson (steady girls) who find a zombie woman in the bowels of an abandoned mental asylum. Unfortunately one of these boys is mentally unstable, which is ironic as they’re in a mental hospital! You can only imagine the things he would want her for (or if you can’t imagine scroll for some more reviews, I’m sure they’ll give it away). It’s an original and really interesting plot that has never been done and I’m sure will never be done again.

My sister said that it had no plot at all, it was just about boys who raped a zombie woman every day. But, the plot isn’t not just what they do to her but, the consequences of their actions. It’s so interesting to see just how low humans can sink to (and this is pretty much the lowest) and also to see how others react to the discovery. The screenplay really captures the kids immaturity (even though they look about 25) and also makes for provocative story-telling.

The directing does feel a bit below par at times, and it does have the look of a clumsy indie teen horror, which is a shame because it offers so much more than, let’s say “Scar 3D”! The acting is also slightly iffy at times, but then again these would be tough roles to carry! I was getting a bit worried with some of these comments saying how it goes too far and how disturbing it is, because this a film I’m going to be watching with my whole family! However, luckily the imagery didn’t go too explicit, I suppose it’s just the idea of anyone wanting to do what most of the boys did to a half dead woman! It’s truly sickening.

“Deadgirl” is not for the easily offended. It’s offensive to both women and men. Women for being seen as sex slaves to men, and men for being seen as people who only see women in that way! I’m male and would never, ever think of resorting to such desperation! Maybe others would, and this film certainly shows that, which is wuite worrying to say the least.

Overall, this is a fantastic psychological horror thriller that I found gripping from start to finish. And, although it isn’t perfect, it really is interesting to see the changes in all of the characters and it also has a great atmosphere of drean which makes for very unsettling viewing. It’s provocative, original and very dark. Horror has never been seen or done like this before!

While this film wasn’t horrible, it wasn’t that good either. The story is unique but they just didn’t do anything with it and kinda unrealistic in the way the teenage boys in this movie are WAY to desperate for pussy, I mean really, there is no way in hell I would even think about touching a dirty ass smelly woman that doesn’t die! I don’t care how desperate you are, you just wouldn’t do that. Anyways they just went the wrong route with this story instead of the whole “sex slave” thing they should have done something else, don’t know what, but anything else would have been better. And like alot of the other comments, I would have loved an explanation on why this woman wouldn’t die, I mean nobody is immortal, so what the fuck. I guess I would recommend you watch it once and forget about it, but try not to spend any money in the process, seriously.

Official Score: 4 / 5
