This movie is so shitty i almost fell asleep several times. they screw the story up even worse then the original and the creature designs are lame. And its so anti-climactic. Only positive is the awesome ferry boat dude, i wont even try to spell its name. it just had so much potential and it fails to deliver on all fronts. The biggest crime of all is the crazed prophet in Argos. hes pretty much a crack head
To be honest I’ve never seen the original but if it’s anything like this pile of steaming poop than I don’t want to see it because this sucks balls! To the acting, story, CGI, and especially the lousy, good for nothing 3D effects that pretty much rips you off is all flat and uninspired. This is the second movie this year that I walked out on and got my money back because I’m just not falling for this hollywood bull crud anymore and I cherish my money and want my freaking moneys worth, step up your game guys come on, I mean you guys get paid all this money to deliver duds like this, cheap, very cheap! Overall avoid this like the plague! ZERO STARS!!!!!
Clash of the Titans is not an epic blockbuster that will win any Oscar awards. If most people would keep this in mind, they won’t be as disappointed. My expectations were reasonably low and all I expected was some greatly shot action sequences and some great cinematography, and that’s what I got. Definitely not a good movie, but it’s a fun and entertaining one.
I didn’t see this in 3D, and maybe that’s why I enjoyed it so much…I don’t know. But the fact is, I had a great time! The special effects are VERY well done, regardless of what people are saying. I’ve heard that the crappy 3D conversion made the effects blurry, so maybe that is why they complain. Loved Medusa, Pegasus, the scorpions, and the Kraken…each was awesome! Medusa was even give a touch of personality this time.
Though not perfect (Sam Worthington’s aussie accent was a little too present, and Perseus had very little character build up), the movie was full of cinematic beauty. A bonus in my book was just how different this version was from the 80′s original. It gives us the ability to enjoy them each separately, and not even worry about confusing the two. I recommend this if you’re looking for an afternoon of monsters and fun.
They laid it on way too thick with the cgi. Other than the actors and a few feet of sets used for the actors to walk on… everything else was cgi and it just gets lame. For instance, there’s a 300-esque scene where a few warriors are fighting a giant scorpion and.. it just looks like a bunch of guys swinging blindly in the air with a cartoon scorpion added later. For a 2 hour movie, there were only 3 “battles”, the rest of the time was slow build up. The plot was entertaining and most of the acting was good. Some of the dialog was hammy and pointless. The robot owl was in the movie for a cool 3 seconds and it was pretty funny. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the prop used in the original. The movie wasn’t really bad but they just spent too much on cgi. Go see it in theaters if you were thinking about seeing it but it will be forgettable and I can’t imagine too many people going out of their way to own it on DVD when it comes out.
Something was missing. It was ok.
I Wanted to like it but I couldn’t enjoy the A.D.D editing and the lack of soul in the script.
I won’t bore you with the details, as the story thinly follows the quest of the original, but fails on all counts. The acting and direction were competent, but everything was very bland and lazy. I don’t get it, it had all the elements from the original: Medusa, Calibos, the Kraken, the Pegasus, Giant motherf’n scorpions, the Gods…yet this version was completely lifeless. Limp. Damn, it was boooooring. Even the action was boring. I mentioned the story being thin, and it was, just an excuse to get to the next CGI effect…there was a whole plot detail of a prophecy that clearly stated Perseus will die that was completely forgotten by the end of the flick, never mentioned, never followed up on. Lazy writing. Lots and lots of walking. The only real improvement was the scenes involving Calibos, but they were few and far between. Good fx (and they were good, but nothing new nowadays) doesn’t make a good movie. If anything it makes it lazy. When you had limited fx or budget back in the day, you had to rely on good story, directing, and acting. Now you make a lackluster flick surrounded by flashy fx. Like a crap album surrounding the one good single. All style, no substance.
There is a bit of revisionist history going on with the original. Since I am older than dirt and saw the original first run let me douse some of the comments regarding it.
The original was not well liked. Stop motion had evolved into “Go Motion” where computers moved the camera or the model as the frame was snapped. This was far superior to the old fashioned process and was not used in the original COTT.
As a result, the movie was considered too old looking. When the bland acting (why the hell was Sir Larry crying in the shield?)and less than great script were added, it made for a flop.
There was some respect for Harryhausen but most critics felt it was just to old fashioned and was a weak swan song for Ray. Let’s not talk about the R2D…uh, Bubo the owl.
Anyhow, this is a far better movie than the original. That’s not to say it a great, or even good, movie but it’s fun to see the monsters and my 8 year old son liked it.
This movie was not shot in 3D so that is tacked on. Save the money and see it standard and it’s an OK way to spend 2 hours.
Bad CGI. Bad dialogue. Minimal character development. But the cinematography was excellent.
This movie is absolutely great! I watched the original all the time as a kid but hadn’t seen it in years. So I bought and watched it the day before I saw this. It doesn’t even compare. This is SO much better. No fake looking puppets here! I didn’t see it in 3d and the CGI looked completely real. The creatures are designed better. Olympus and the Gods are awesome. The acting and characters are great. There is a lot of great action and it never lets up. Absolutely fantastic movie I can’t wait to own. I hope this is only the first of a new series.
This was a rough film to watch.. horrible cgi.. except for sam worthington the acting was pretty damn bad. movie was completely linear and the Kraken was barely in it.. I wasn’t bored while watching but it was a bad film
BOOOO!!! This felt like a longer episode of Hercules. Pretty bad overall. The Kraken was sweet, but other than that…. LAME AS SHIT. WTF!!! And the poster was so sweet….
WHy all the hating. This movie had pretty sick ass effects, much diff plot then the old one. But The action was sick and the kraken was 3000000 times better then the old one. I love the old one alot and watched it the same day. Not I didn’t see this movie in 3D and I am actually glad, becus I prob would of hated it. And LMAO they tell you all it’s REAL 3D even the poster’s say it in the theaters talk about a lie. Fuck fake D. Could of used some tits. Shit the fuckin old one had tits and nipples and had a naked kid LOL WTF. Cenorship has fucked us in a hole. But see this for the action and effects AND DO NOT SEE IT IN FAKE 3D.
The story revolved around the dumbest character. Who? Out of the the characters, Zeus. He let’s his evil brother work for him. Who does that? Humans rebel and plan to destroy the gods. Who does that? You go from blood to giant scorpions and let some retard rebels who plan to destroy the gods ride you on the back? Who does that? Zeus releases the kraken so that people would PRAY to him? During a monster attack? Who does that?
Titans Will Clash? After this film, I have a feeling that, this summer… Movies Will Suck.
Clash of the Titans = terrible terrible movie. deserves a 2/10 IMOP. terrible cgi, terrible acting, no point in being a 3D movie
Its worth seeing if uve never watched the original, but nothing really new here. Never the less, its worth watching once
For those bitching about the 3D, remember it wasn’t shot in 3D so it won’t have that in your face look. You want to see it then watch it in 2D. With that said, this was a sweet movie. Big fan of the original and a big fan of this one. Nothing massively fantastic about it, just a nice couple of hours of mythology that strayed a little from the original, but still stayed close to it.
I REALLY hoped this movie would be good, and I was let down big time. I didn’t bother wasting the extra money for the horseshit 3D and boy am I glad I didn’t. Visually very cool, but the movie itself felt very flat in every aspect. Dull characters, rushed story telling. Could have been epic.
not as bad as everyone seems to think but still nothing anyone in the movie should be too proud about
I dont understand how this was a bad movie. The CGI was really good, ya Medusa was over the top but other than that it was really good. Acting wasnt that bad and it was action packed. Very good movie. Kraken was badass but they killed it off way to fast.
This was like a decent cover of a great old song!Nothing groundbreaking but still fun escapism! Not as much character development as the original but the effects are eyecandy in parts. The Kracken,Medusa, and Pegasus was top-notch!A possible start to a franchise that could improve!Enjoyable flick!
STOP WATCHING POST-CONVER. 3D!!!! ITS UTTER CRAP AND THE INDUSTRY IS TRICKING YOU, also the movie wasn’t great the final fight was basically a game of tag and cheech and chong Mexican comedy twins riding scorpions were retarded
I didn’t watch it in 3d, maybe thats why I really enjoyed it.I didn’t really even want to see it but it was a fun blockbuster especially the part with Medusa. It wasn’t too drawn out like most blockbusters, it kept the action plenty and had some amazing acting especially for this type of flick. If you like big budget stuff then its definitely something to see.
I just got back from watching Clash Of The Titans and personally I just wasn’t expecting to much from this movie. But the 3D was disappointing, It was just like a couple scenes of 3D and that’s It. The movie wasn’t bad but It was just a fast paced kind of movie. The monsters were pretty cool and big. But If you just want to go to the movie just for the 3D, you won’t expect to much. Overall COTT was just a decent good movie.
After being warned at least a hundred times by trustworthy sources (one of them being this very website) I did not see Clash of the Titans in 3D, I chose however, to not waste my money and watch the movie as it was made: Good ol’ crappy blurry movie theater quality.
Now I have to admit I expected a lot from this film, and how could I not, Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and possibly some of the most unforgettable trailers and previews that I’ve ever seen. A fully CG monstrosity recreation of the Kraken (which I still believe may be one of the top CG Creatures I’ve ever seen.) and great acting topped it off.
I was expecting a Movie of the year candidate, and what I received was a rushed hour and a half cereal commercial that could’ve lasted three hours. This movie was great, good CGI, good acting, a good reinvention of a good story, likable characters. But it was all so rushed, it was like trying to cram the bible into an episode of Doctor Who, yeah, its great its entertaining, but it was just so rushed.
kinda had high hopes for this one…..it was pretty good, thanks to Michael Bay’s “Transformers spastic-filming” style, but i thought the original is by far better, in it’s cheesiest ways.
the biggest disappointment was the Kraken…i’m sure there could have been a better cross between the original and what a modern one could look like. this thing would be more at home in a Hellboy movie…not to say that’s a bad thing, but i thought it was a bit out of place in this movie.
definitely a rent-er, and don’t blow your money on the 3d price, since it wasn’t made for that, and the 2D is just as good.
ok this was a really good movie. great action awsome fights and epic scenes and battles…but this did not need to be in 3d. paying to see it in 3d was a huge waiste of money. not one single thing is this movie utilized the 3d effect. you can totally tell they make it 3d at the last second. but enough of the 3d bashing..i wish i would of seen it in 2d it would of been fine. it was a really good movie, sam worthington is a great actor and really getting his moneys worth with all these leed rolls he has been getting. so if you havnt seen this movie, dont see it in 3d there is no need, see regular and you will really enjoy the movie.
I saw this film in it’s 2D version and from what I have read I didn’t miss much in terms of the 3D effect. This film dragged for me and I had to keep myself awake by injesting large amounts of Pepsi and Skittles. Also at times I felt lost while watching it as if parts of the dialogue were left out. One moment everyone thinks he’s a man and then a soldier shouts out he’s a demi-god. Where did that knowledge come from. Is there a demi-god handbook we the audience didn’t know about? The effects were nice but couldn’t make up for the lack of pacing in the film. The one nice thing was to see a friendly face or should I say beak from the first version. Save your money and wait till this one hit’s the cheap theaters or buy it at Walmart after they mark it down a few times.
The special effects in this flick were good as they come and the story good to. The acting on the other hand needed some more to it. I just can’t place my finger on it but, I think people should react a little more lively and excited or scared to be dealing with such crazy creatures. The kraken was over the edge but it seems just another huge monster. Maybe pg 13 because they want everyone to see this.
In this day and age of movie coming out in 3D and REMAKES well this film is both its in 3D and its a REMAKE its not as good as some other remakes i have seen over the past couple years but it will not be marked down in history as one of the worst like THE fog. This movie has a nice premise to it i liked the feel of the film and the 3D was just mainly extra i dident feel the film needed to be in 3D maybe if it wasent maybe the film would have been better in more ways than one.
The movie centers around Persus (Worthington) who is the son of Zeus after Hadies killes his family in a tragic drowning incident. He wants revenge so he gets picked up by a crusade of warriors against the GODS he thinks this is his only chance to get his take and revenge at the gods for taking his family away from him. Well Zeus (Liam Neeson) is not happy by this not one bit and he calls upon the help of his brother Hadies to remind them of the order of things so they know who is boss.
Well Haides approches the Counsel of the league of Warriors who are against the gods and tells them they have tell the SUN eclipse’s then he will release his son the KRAGON!. Unless they sacrifice the girl who is suppospdly better than all the gods. So now its up to Persus to save the day so he must stop the KRAGON.
This movie has alot of action sequences that in the most part fall flat and leave you wondering a couple of times i was lost in the movie buy its dialogue there is a scene with this huge gigantic scorpians which was actully pretty intense but the 3D really took away from how breathtaking that scene may have been. If you are going to see this movie only for the 3D i wouldent this movie is not worth it. 2D would be fine this movie was never made for 3D it was halfway done when they decided to put it in 3D because every other movie was doing.
The 3D effects dont live up to anything but this movie was lead by great and powerfull performances Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson the supporting cast was pretty good you can tell in the end that Madusa is completly CGI and she moves to fast in the orginal she moved SLOW .. but that is one of the many better takes on this classic tale. All in all this movie is a good popcorn flick if you can find a 2D showing that might have been better but i will get this on DVD because i want to see what the 2D is like .. you can skip Clash Of The Titans.
(Please Ignore what i said up there i saw this movie again and realized i didn’t like it!)

Thanks For Stoppin Buy
Probably my expectations were too high for this movie, that`s why I left the theatre so disappointed.
Anyone who’s anyone in Greek mythology is in here from the psychic withes, Medusa, looking spectacular, The Kraken, Hades, and Zeus and of course Perseus. Perseus, played by a more than able bodied Sam Worthington, the mortal son of Zeus, played by the God that is Liam Neeson, embarks on a journey of peril and turmoil to stop Hades, the remarkable Ralph Fiennes, and his minions from spreading their hellish presence onto Earth as well as the Heavens.
So what do we know about Clash of Titans before we have even viewed it? We know the special effects are more likely to take precedence over the substance of the film itself. But you may be relieved to know that this does not get overly carried away with the special effects like a certain Van Helsing released 6 years ago. Now stereotypically men are more likely to enjoy this film it is dripping with testosterone, it oozes out of each and every pore. Liam Neeson really is a God there is no disputing this fact and of course Ralph Fiennes is a great villain regardless of the film he is placed within, need I remind you of a certain Harry Potter series?
Right from the start the special effects come into play and so does the tone, which is overly heroic and epic, at best. In special effects terms it is unfair to compare the film to its original counterpart, for the original’s time and age the effects are damn fine. But this is just breathtaking; the effects are so stunning and unbelievable that they will bemuse you even after you have finished watching it. Now I did not watch the 3D version and regrettably so because I feel the review would be even more positive regarding the special effects if I would have seen it in that particular format. You can clearly see that a lot of work and effort has been put into the special effects so much so that you can’t help but forgive the forgettable and sometimes awful dialogue even if the over the top epic feel to it feels cheesy at best and the one liners make you cringe at times. Unfair comparisons to 300 will, and probably have, occurred but this film manages to succeed 300 in so many ways which was more than lacking in substance. You can’t say there is ever a dull moment, action throughout and damn fine action it is.
The show stealers are obviously Medusa and the Kraken. Medusa in all of her evil and might, the details given to her are remarkable, the movements she executes are so free and realistic you could question the fact this is a special effect, her blood curdling screams also induce fear and dread. The Kraken is so beautifully designed morphed in such a breathtaking way. Also on top of all that, Effy and Tony from Skins make cameos, which was a bizarre conception in my eyes.
6.5/10
This is a Hollywood special effects fest at its best. It’s a no brainer action movie, deal with it.
An awful attempt at translating any of the Greek mythology it’s based on. Clash of the Titans fails. It becomes hysterical to see Sam Worthington reference himself continually as in I’m just a man or my father was a fisherman and to see amazing actors like Liam Neeson and Ralp Finnes relegated to embarrassing bit parts only make the viewing experience worse.
Obviously this is an effects driven film, but the good news is the effects are pretty good. Cool imagery but I thought this movie was way too short, they needed a little more character development. The Kraken was insane.Just view it for what it is, a summer popcorn flick.
why is this movie even of this site? terrible.
Not sure why this film is on bloodydisgusting.com, but anyway, here’s what I thought. Well casted, but didn’t impress me. The dialogue was laughable and didn’t know how to feel with the mood of the film, was this supposed to be silly or taken seriously? Good action and effects though.
I saw this movie with my grandmother, my mother and my niece for 2 years, I think that says it all, this is not a horror movie!!!!! The movie should be called the clash of the effect, because only that is, effects, effects and more effects. Please do not ask about the story, characters, none of this is worth it.
This is the ONLY movie I’ve ever walked out of in the theatre. 30 minutes into it and as soon as he jumped on that scorpion I was gone. Fucking stupid. If I could give it less than a one, maybe go into the negative numbers, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Not to mention the fact that Sam Worthington is a terrible actor in everything. He couldn’t stop switching his accent! “Oh! I’m british! Oh I’m australian now! OH I’m from Brooklyn now! Whoops! I’m Australian again!” It was painful.
not a bad remake but im really struggling to see why its seen as a horror film when it clearly isnt. good for those of us into greek mythology and monsters but not for those primaraly into horror. great for the action though!
entertaining, thought it was a good film
