‘Street Trash’ Getting All-New Restoration for Limited-Edition 4K Blu-ray Release

A still from the movie 'Street Trash'

The ’80s gave birth to the beloved idea of “splatstick” horror, which fused together outrageous comedy with absurd levels of blood and gore, with movies like Evil Dead II, Re-Animator, and The Return of the Living Dead helping usher in this new subgenre. When looking back at the crowded field of goopy and grotesque ’80s movies, it’s hard to top the insanity of Street Trash, a movie whose accomplishments have yet to be replicated with the same intensity.

Synapse Films has confirmed that an all-new restoration of Street Trash is set to be released on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on December 7, which is now available for pre-order.

In the sleazy, ominous underworld of lower Manhattan’s winos, derelicts, and drifters, two young runaways — 18-year-old Fred (Mike Lackey) and his brother Kevin (Mark Sferrazza) — live in a tire hut behind a sprawling auto wrecking yard. Their greatest danger comes from a case of Tenafly Viper, mysterious old booze discovered behind a wall in a local liquor store’s basement. It’s 40 years old—and it has gone very, very bad! Anyone who drinks it melts into multi-colored goo in seconds, and it’s only $1.00 a bottle.

One of the most requested titles in Synapse Films history now arrives on home video in an exclusive new uncut 4K restoration from the original 35mm camera negative supervised and approved by the film’s original director of photography, David Sperling, who worked closely with Synapse Films to ensure it looks exactly as he and director James Muro intended. This two-disc side-loading slipcase special edition includes both a 4K (2160p) UHD disc and a Blu-ray (1080p) of the newly remastered film and special features.

Special features on the release are as follows:
