Vertical Entertainment has picked up the North American rights to Malicious, a horror thriller from writer-director Michael Winnick, reports THR.
“The movie tells of a young newlywed (Bojana Novakovic) who suffers a traumatic event, then finds herself haunted — and connected — to a malicious entity with murderous intentions.“
“It is only when Adam calls upon Dr. Clark, a professor of parapsychology at the university, that the true horror of what they have encountered becomes clear.”
Bojana Novakovic, who can be seen in Drag Me to Hell and Devil, stars with Josh Stewart (Insidious: Chapter 4, The Collector), Delroy Lindo (Gone in 60 Seconds, Point Break), Melissa Bolona (Dog Eat Dog), and Yvette Yates (“Channel Zero”).
“The fear and the fragility of having a newborn weighs on every couple, and in Malicious, those terrors are heightened in unexpected ways,” said executive producer Shaun Redick.
Vertical aims to release in theaters in the summer.
The movie was produced by Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizzotti. Exec producers include Redick and Yvette Yates of Impossible Dream Entertainment, Ali Jazayeri, Kevin Alexander Heard, Viviana Zarragoitia and Raymond Mansfield.
