a little out-dated in this modern time of re-makes but still a great film

I decided to rent the entire series and sit down and watch them…This one is by far the most graphic and purely enjoyable movie. Pinhead is the main character in this movie, and we get a glimpse of his origins. (for real origins of who PINHEAD was watch 3 and to see how the box was created watch 4). I turned this movie on and instantly enjoyed the blood and guts…People have to understand the CG were cheap and looked like TRON in many ways, but for the horror and blood, it definitely makes up for it. I miss the fact that special effects were not all done by cheap computers back in the day, and the violence and gore in this movie in fantastic. I recommend everyone who is a fan of horror to watch hellraiser 1-4…Once you get to 5-8 it is more of a mind game than a hellraiser typical movie.

    Great, great sequel.
Interesting plot, creative violence, good conclusion. About to watch 3, all downhill from here.

This was an excellent sequel!!! I like that it was more about the cenobites. It gets pretty gory at times but it’s worth it. Highly recommended!!!

A great sequel in my opinion a bit better than the first once again a great gore fest (even gorier than the first) plot was done great, a good conclusion at the end. Actually scarier than the original, Highly recommended. My personal favorite in the series. However this was definitely the last watchable Hellraiser film.

Every bit as good as the first. Fantastic music, cinemetography, acting, and storyline. Very gory too which I loved. Pinhead and Kirsty make a triumphant return. The doctor Cenobite fighting Pinhead, the Female Cenobite, Chatterer, and Butterball was just jawdropping. I loved that scene. A must see for all Hellraiser fans.

Not so much a sequel but an extension of the first part, Hellraiser and Hellbound go hand in hand the same way Halloween 1 and 2 do. Returning characters from the first movie ensure the story remains strong with the evil Julia being resurrected and Kirsty having to fight her and the Cenobites one more time. The gore and pain is cranked up to the max and the story offers great expansions on the history of the box and Pinhead, giving us insight into the man behind the monster. The Cenobites make their return ,throw an evil doctor turned Cenobite plus lashings of ultra violence and bucket loads of gore into the mix and you have one of the best horror sequels ever made. Shame it all went downhill after this superb film.

Overall this film has to be the best sequel to come out of the Hellraiser franchise the part with Kirsty wearing the skin of Julia was enough to make me ether laugh or throw up

Big fan of Clive Barker, and big fan of at least the first three Hellraiser movies. I know that 3 was probably shooting the franchise down the crap tube, but I still enjoyed it. Good first two if not three movies. Check them out if you haven’t yet.

I love this one the best….its the best one of all…I dig when that bitch comes out of the mattress that was so great….also the doc was out of his mind…so I would recommend this one of all the Hellraisers to see.

I feel this is probably one of, if not the best sequel for any movie. Picking up exactly where the first leaves it, I sort of consider then to be the same movie. Hellbound: Hellraiser II certainly gives the original a run for its money. This is a mastery of character, bot twisted and deformed. it also shows us how a Cenobite is created, and gives us one of the most memorable ones next to Pinhead and Chatterer, Dr. Channard. I love this character, his so different to the others and doesn’t abide by the rules. This vision of hell is also great, stating that everyone has a personal hell.
This film also has unforgettable scenes. *spoiler*
Like when Julia is brought back, its spin chilling to watch that guy cut himself up, sick, twisted and unusual. Thats what Hellraiser is about, and this keeps that intact very well. One to see, for any horror fan.

This is one I love even more than the first! I think it’s because it’s more morbid and it shows more of the Cenobite universe. But I still love the first one. You have to love Hellraiser

It’s not THAT great, people. I mean, as far as sequels go, this is pretty much as good as you get but I can’t say it’s better than the first or even say it’s on par with it.

Not to say it’s a bad movie or anything. It has some awesome cool/creepy shit going on but it doesn’t feel as amazing or shocking and original as the first. Just sort of a rehash.

one of my favorite movies of all times as you can tell by my avatar it ties with or even beats the orignal just because it has so much more gore in it.

I may be on an island here but I thought the Hellraiser series was solid up until the 6th one. 1-5 are some of my favorite horror movies of all time, which I told Doug Bradley in girlish-freak-out fashion when I met him at a Cradle of Filth show a while back. The second one is by far my favorite though. The whole scene with the guy cutting himself and Julia coming out of the mattress is the stuff nightmares are made of. Great fucking movie!

I thought the begining was kind of slow, with it kind of going over what happened in the first movie. But once it got to the scene with the mattress in the Doctors study it was pretty great from there. The death scenes were awesome. And the amount of gore was great too.

As a highly regarded installment in the Hellraiser series I found this movie to be a little boring. Personally one of my least favorites in the series. I will give the classic “resurrection scene”
through the mattress its dues, but not a much follows after that. Horrible CGI even for 1988. If your a low-budget movie you don’t spend the little money you do have on that. Pinhead goes out pretty weak for being one of the baddest dudes in hell. Horror World…I agree to disagree.

In my opinion the only Hellraiser sequel worth bothering with. The imagery in this movie is fantastic and Eerie. It takes the grotesque elements of the original to new and dazzling heights. The Hellraiser mythos is fleshed out further. A very successful and disturbing sequel.

Definitely nearly as good as the first one… the only thing i liked less was The fact that pinhead and the other Cenobites went down real easy.
I didn’t mind it being slow in the beginning because the rest really makes up for it. Definitely as crazy and disturbing as the previous one. Awesome movie.

Personally, this is my favourite in the Hellraiser franchise. I thought the slow beginning was a good build up to the later half, where all hell lets loose. I also thought that that this film boasted lots of wonderful insanity that the other films lacked.
The gore was top notch and I thought the story was very good.

Brilliant film, well worth the watch ;)

Great movie. It’s got elements from a slasher movie and a fantasy epic.
This movie has some of the most deranged gore scenes I’ve seen, along with a superb story and characters.

A masterpiece, well worth your time.

Sequels aren’t usually as good, and this one wasn’t as good but it was (for a sequel) really impressive! The thing I love about these Hellraiser films is that they are so imaginative and so interesting, it’s impossible to get bored with all this insanity and crazy sequences going on!

I didn’t like the fact that Pinhead and his Cenobites dies so easily! I liked the doctor as a Cenobite because he was completely deranged! It also left me feeling confused and a lot I had to answer myself and sort of work out why or how, but I guess that’s the laziness in me :)

There’s a lot of debate over whether or not this film is the best one in the franchise, and I’m going to have to say that it isn’t. Not terrible, just a lot more of the same things you saw in the original movie. I’m not going to hold it against anyone who claims they love this movie, but it just wasn’t for me. More details here:

I LOVED this movie! I think I might have enjoyed it more than the first…but Im undecided.
The story was great and I liked to see a bit of the backstory of Pinhead.

The only downfall I could see was: *SPOILER*

the death of the cenobites. They barely put up a fight at all! but then I think that maybe they wanted to be free of their servitude; so thats why they put in their half assed effort?

Anyhoo, all in all was very entertaining.

A good sequel that expands the mythology of the universe, but didn’t age as well as the original and therefore has a pretty trashy look.

I did not like Hellbound: Hellraiser II as much as the original Hellraiser. Although it is not a bad movie, I felt it was pretty predicable and cliche’. For a horror film, I didn’t feel/see the damnation that could have taken place. In the first movie Kristy cheats the cenobites by making an exchange (creative), yet escaping them the second time in this movie is a little ridiculous. They are not scary nor powerful if they are repeatedly outsmarted.

I just rewatched this a few days ago, and it actually hasn’t aged too badly. I do think the first Hellraiser was more original, more edgy, and really had that feeling of not knowing where it was going next. This one is great when compared to other horror films, but pales a bit compared to Hellraiser I.

Now…rewatch this movie and take a close look at the rotating torture column thing with all the body parts, etc, nailed to it. I’m giving this film one extra skull just for the pair of miniature skeletons mounted there which are in the act of fellatio. The little head actually moves! Somebody had a sense of humor in all this darkness ;-)

Pretty good sequel, the actors from the original did a nice job reprising their roles convincingly, and the story was fairly intelligent if not altogether coherent. Some of the surreal imagery was a bit too over the top, and the “dystopian city” at the end was never explained. Just big effects for the sake of being sensational. If it was toned down and more attention to story detail was followed, this would have been almost as good as the original. For example, one of the main plotlines was that Kirsty was trying to rescue her father’s soul that was trapped in the “netherworld”…then that seems to quietly fall away while she attends to other matters. Still, not a bad sequel when compared to the others.

A lot of people say that this is the best in the franchise. While I personally disagree, this is a GREAT movie. It shows us a unique vision of hell(how everyone’s hell is different and forces them to deal with the things they hate most for eternity). It has some great lines from pinhead(Doug Bradley kicks ass) and is one of the gorier, if not goriest, movies of the franchise. 10/10
