Just got back from seeing it. Great stuff. I kinda’ guessed where it was heading early on, but I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest.
Great music from Clint Mansell as always, and another terrific performance from Rockwell.

one of the most epic, wonderful, and powerful space features ever ever, total greatness and desperation in a sci fi.

fuck that I’m staying here and looking through telescopes and TV!

This was a very good film and i enjoyed every minute of it, but there wasn’t much that i thought was very memorable or much to take away.

This was a very well written and directed film.Clint Mansell excels with his score,Rockwell deserves an award, and the cgi never ONCE looks fake!

I did not particularly care for this film.

The CGI and acting were above and beyond my expectations (there’s no doubt in my mind that Rockwell gave a phenomenal performance), but the script just went in a direction I didn’t appreciate at all.

    Spoilers:
I went to see this movie opening weekend expecting it to be a tense, psychological movie where Rockwell was forced to, literally, confront himself after having been driven mad due to prolonged isolation. This madness and confrontation would lead to him and the demons he was living with (represented in the other ‘him’ that he found) having some sort of confrontation that either would or would not lead to him solving his problems and ‘finding himself’. The direction the story actually went in was nothing but a mediocre sci-fi twist that failed very, very miserably at impressing or interesting me.

Also, I had assumed Spacey’s character (the CPU) to play an interesting role. The trailers made it seem as though the computer would play a sort of adversarial role in a similar vein as Hal 9000 in 2001, but any such tension was entirely absent from the film.

Overall, I would NOT recommend this film unless you’re looking for the CGI or merely to admire Rockwell’s performance. Other than that, you won’t get much of an interesting character or psychological study out of this movie, as all interest will be lost in the characters as soon as the ‘twist’ is revealed.

Other than a fine performance from Sam Rockwell this sci-fi film was underwhelming, slow and to be honest boring and depressing. This is one of the most disappointing film I’ve seen this summer because I was really looking forward to seeing this but it turned out to be nothing huge at all and is overrated. I do admit that it kept me from walking out but that’s because it makes you believe something big is going to happen but nothing did and it is really hard to get into it because I found myself falling asleep every now and then. This movie needed more action in it to speed things up because it felt longer than 97 minutes. Overall this was a promising movie that ended up being quite forgettable and disappointing and is somewhat similar to Eden Log and I hated that movie but it’s not as bad. Skip this trip to the moon!

It’s seldom that I am blown away by a film I’ve “much anticipated”. This time actually I was! The trailer did a great job of misleading you as to the plot of the movie. I went into the film thinking I would see a great, modern, homage to “2001″ and left witnessing an entirely original story that inspired me as an artist and writer. Sam Rockwell is due for an Oscar. Although I’m sure he won’t get one for this indy, sci-fi, flick. It’s my opinion he should. Kevin Spacey was the perfect voice for Girdy. I wont tell you any more accept that this movie works the whole way through.

An intelligent, fascinating movie for people who can be entertained by story and character content, rather than explosions and titties. Not a horror movie at all, but a slow paced, yet captivating science fiction film instead. Highly recommended.

I can’t believe that Moon didn’t get a perfect score here. You can’t really talk about this film without giving away some of the key points, so I’m just gonna keep this simple: MOON is a perfect movie. It must be watched.

It was decent. I loved that my man mansell did the soundtrack. I liked the way it was acted, sam rockwell was amazing, as duel roles LOL.. Ummm. The ending was rather weird. It was deft different.

Definitely one of those movies that will stick with me. Beautiful, strange, and very satisfying. Sam Rockwell is amazing as always but this is definitely one of those roles that I’ll be holding up as a standard of “that’s a great fucking actor”. Is there no award buzz for him? If not, that is a shame.

let me start by saying that this is not a horror movie in any way, shape, or form, but WOW, moon is an amazing film that is more a sci-fi dramatic thriller. i can’t say much to u about the plot because it would spoil it, but its one of those movies we rarely get that focus completely on one character throughout the entire film. it is a very thought provoking and completely engaging artful masterpiece that i think will be cherished by any sane person that views it. sam rockwell’s performance is jaw dropping and this movie will leave u thinking about it for long time after u’ve seen it. god bless moon, iwish there were more movies like it.

You should know right off the bat this isnt a horror film. Its an isolated thriller.

That being said, its top quality.

Sam Rockwell does an amazing job and carrys the film.

There is also a great sci-fi plot at work here.

    Highly reccomended

a cool sci-fi movie with an interesting story, an amazing Sam Rockwell and a brillant soundtrack. Unfortunately a bit too slow-paced in the second half and the end wasn’t very satisfying for me.

I watched this movie last night and I was bored out of my mind! I just kept telling myself that a good twist was coming, but it never did. I love sci-fi, but this was beyond lame. Did I see the same movie as everyone else who loves it?? Maybe I fell asleep in the middle,’cuz it sucked. :(

As has been pointed out by countless others, Moon is not a horror film. What Moon is, is a Science Fiction film, with some psychological tension and drama thrown in. Yet another film that explores the concept of Space and Isolation, in the tradition of films like Solaris and to a lesser degree Pandorum.

What starts as a movie about a man working a 3 year contract in space turns into an interesting tale about loneliness, humanity, family, sacrifice and finally sadness. What we see is worker Sam Bell going about his routine, clearly affected by his time alone on the Moon. We are introduced to his wife and daughter and given a taste of what that separation has cost Sam while he is working. We also see Sam start to see things, glitches on the monitors, spots that look like edit points in his messages to home and somewhat ominous sounding computer named Gerty, although to be honest that creepiness may have been inferred by me given my history of films like 2001 a Space Odyssey.

When Sam gets into an accident while driving his moon buggy, we see a break and then he is waking up in some type of infirmary, with no memory of what happened or how he arrived there. Slowly Sam starts to intuit that something is wrong and when he encounters somebody who looks just like him in a crashed Moon buggy, the movie really starts to pick up.

I found this to be an engaging and fascinating film that manages to take a small budget and still showcase a movie in space that looks good. This is a touching film and a worthwhile effort for first time director Duncan Jones. Definitely worth the purchase on Blue Ray and worth watching.

Moon is a beautiful, thought provoking, slightly surreal and sad examination of loneliness and isolation. It’s also very touching and it will grip you with it’s mystery from the get go.
Sam Rockwell is an absolute revelation as the man, who at the end of his three year contract working on the moon, just wants to go home.
For a movie considered low budget a lot of thought and effort has been put into everything you see on screen. The effects are top notch as is the direction, script and the truly haunting musical score.
The least you know about this film the better so go into this blind and be hugely rewarded by a simple yet powerful story.
This is a new sci fi masterpiece. For once a movie lives up to, and in this case, exceeds the hype.

Great movie. Keeps you guessing until the “big reveal” is revealed and then it drags some ass. Otherwise this is a pretty unique scare flick. More of a psychological scare. Entertaining though.

Awesome. The first time I saw this movie was a few bits and pieces as I scanned past it on cable. I was unimpressed. The sets were rather claustrophobic, nothing ever seemed to be going on other than this guy (Sam Rockwell) talking to himself or to a computer. My brain-jerk reaction was “Great…another Silent Running”

When I finally sat down and watched it, I was shocked at how wrong I was. The sets ARE claustrophobic, the scenery IS limited and your cast of characters IS just one guy and a voice, but it all feeds the mood and the musical score completes the effect. As you get pulled into this poor guys decay, both physical and psychological, you completely forget about the limited environment. Rockwells acting is outstanding. I was impressed with The Green Mile, and this wrapped it up and put a bow on it.

Believe me, I’m a steak and potatoes, boobs and blood kind of movie guy, and this movie still hooked me. Give it a try!

Why is a barely watchable sci-fi movie on this “horror” review site? After 30 minutes I could not wait for it to end.

Official Score: 4.5 / 5
