I liked it, but also felt disappointment, as the movie felt just like the first one which a sequel should never do.
I liked it, but also felt disappointment, as the movie felt just like the first one which a sequel should never do.
Honestly I really enjoyed this sequel, perhaps even more than its predecessor. It had a great cast, was well acted, pretty good story, scares, and creepiness and continuity! However, the only thing that made me dislike this movie was right in the middle, when the point of view is changed from the SWAT team’s camcorders to these Spanish teenagers, which is just excruciatingly jumpy and shaky to the point i felt sick. However, the film then resumes back to a last camera’s point of view where it has a nice finish. It’s pretty apparent that there’s gonna be sequels or spinoffs!
An ok but sadly quite disappointing and unnecessary sequel. Pretty action-packed, gory and it never gets boring, but unfortunately it’s extremely predictable and nowhere near as scary and tense as the original. The acting is mediocre, the story is lame and what’s worst: there are way too many scenes which are too reminiscent of great scenes from the first part (people falling into the ground, cameras falling on the floor, a night vision finale etc.).
I don’t get it. They had such suspense and good idea in REC only to be blasted away in REC2. Sometimes good movies like Rec shouldn’t have sequels.
LOL- terrifying, kickass, amazing. NOT.
Well maybe it’s better in action and gore but still sucks on plot. Well, that’s my opinion. No offense to those who enjoyed it.
Friggin awesome movie! I think it surpases the first! many people hate it when it switches over to the teens point of view but I think it’s a perfect way of showing us what’s going on in the outside world (kind of sets up for the next entry) and it kind of brings up back down to earth after all the intense action going on with the swat team inside. A perfect movie!
Good Good
Not better than the first one, but It crapped the hell out of me!!!
Highly recommended!!!
Just as good as the original, if not better. Thought you had seen everything when it came to infected psycho’s? Get prepared to meet your match with REC 2. Plenty of scares as well as an interesting take on the zombie/infected genre. More details here:

A superior rare sequel that ups the ante when it came to scares, mayhem, suspense, gore and pace over the original and it’s about time for a sequel to do that. Still in many ways it’s similar to the original, it was in the same building with the same type of characters and you felt their fear just as much when they go through the building full of frights. I really liked how they added new elements to the movie like possession, demons and it has a priest this time to cast them out and its still a zombie movie as well and it was thoroughly entertaining and horrifying that will have you on the edge of your seat pulling your hair out and bitting your nails wondering what’s going to be around the next dark corner and I loved every minut of it and wondering if the american remake will be just as good. This is a horror movie that all horror movies in america should take after and aim to be like or surpass because this is one hell of a bad @ss horror movie. Overall the acting was decent, the direction was good, the story was better, the gore was good, the scares were actually scary and the suspense and atmosphere were top notch, all key ingredients for a great horror movie what more could you ask for from a horror movie like this and I just hope they raise the bar again for the third one. Highly recommended!!!!!!
I definitely felt this was a strong sequel. I thought they found a good way to keep the same handheld style in a way that made sense. I also liked that they hinted at the end of the first one that this wasn’t necessarily just a virus that it was more than that and when we find out what that is I liked it. It was something different and something I didn’t really see coming. There is some good scares in here some pretty good twists. I mean when the first twist happens you kind of know where its gonna go but its still surprises you even when you get there. Definitely recommended especially if you saw the first one.
Loved how they changed the story up just a bit to keep it fresh. Not better than the first, but damn close.
what a fantastic sequel. this was gripping from start to finish. its got a different tone than that of REC. it’s intense from the beginning and by the end i was shattered from the ride and this is a ride.imagine universal horror nights or something like that and it being filmed. thats what this film is like just shock after shock and they come at the right times aswell. its all a bit predictable and seen before but its done in a way that few movies even get close to. all the characters are great and i reaally felt for them.
imissed it in the cinema but just got the blu ray. it looks fantastic at times a bit grainy but neverless great. i feel however that its the audioon this that really sets up the scares.if you have any kind of surround sound set up crank that baby up and let this one rip
Wow i really liked this sequel, same feel of the first with a twist that totally work for me…..good stuff!
A solid sequel to a spectacular movie, which is not always easy. Although there are a lot of similarities to the first movie, the plot has enough of a twist to stand on it’s own.
The best sequel to a horror film I have seen to date. While it’s not quite #1, it’s really not that far off. It also continues on the story in a strange and very unexpected way. Fans of the first movie really have to see this to believe it, a completely amazing sequel.
It’s rare to come across a sequel that’s a decent movie to it’s original but [REC 2] not only matches the level of terror of the first movie, it actually manages to exceed it. Picking up directly from where the original left off and placing the action right back in the middle of the quarantined building the tension is pretty much unbearable until the infected start to attack, then it’s a full on assault as the protagonists have to find the cure to stop the terror. In their search for survivors they come across new characters, old foes and the return surprise of someone once thought to be long gone. This is action packed and the blood and gore match the first movie but what elevates this is a smart plot twist that turns the infected into an entirely different beast altogether. Also throwing children into the mix heightens the tension and suspense, and that’s what this movie delivers in spades. The door is left way open for a third movie which would expand the story even more. Fans of the first movie and people who love good old fashioned scares mixed with gore will love this.
Move over Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity etc, this is POV horror at its very best!!
Pretty much the same as REC except from the viewpoint of the Army and some curious Kids. Excellently paced and well acted. You get to find out more about the “Virus” and its origins. Was a much more fuller movie than the first just has a lot more substance for some reason. Rec 2 Still packs the same punch in the scare department and then some. Highly recommended if your a fan of the first and of the modern day Zombie Genre.
Further elaborating on the hints dropped at the end of the original this gives you a nice twist and is just as solid as the original.
I was actually really impressed with this sequel actually. It isn’t as good as the first installment but it’s not far off, it’s one of the best sequels I’ve ever seen in fact. The first one had better characters that you could care about, but did sometimes drag a bit. [REC]2 has plenty of zombie action to keep you on the edge of your seats. It also has lots of suspense but unfortunately not as many scares. The original [REC] is possibly the scariest film I’ve ever seen with its full on powerful jump scares and nail biting finale! However, the finale to this little sequel is also nail biting and whilst the first one seemed to be just about zombies, this ponders on the supernatural side giving it a slightly better edge with more dimensions to it. [REC]2 did have some jump scenes in it but most of them didn’t make me jump (I didn’t say ALL of them!)
In conclusion I really enjoyed the ride on [REC]2 it was fast paced, interesting and suspenseful. The ending was completely unexpected and has just left me hungry for me! BRING ON [REC]3!!!!
As good or maybe even better than the first film?
can’t wait for the third installment!!
The Best Horror Movie of The Decade
Rec 2 is pretty much hit and miss.
Strengths:
1. Picks up where it left off in Rec.
2. Tense, Dark, Nail-biting and creepy atmosphere akin to First Shooter horror games of which I am a massive fan of.
3. Some outstanding moments like use of night vision to find a room, well and finally Mederios was hair raising and brilliant. Also the scene when Larra goes into air duct to retrieve blood was truly frightening
4. And cunning plan by Demon possessed Angela to get rid of Mederios so that they can never use her blood to create anti-dote.
Neutral:
1. Unexpected supernatural, demonic twist although hint was thrown in the first movie about possession but I just thought it is perhaps that a usual gang of religious idiots got it wrong and performed experiments on a girl who has some rare mutated gene thinking that it was a demonic possession. I would have of course preffered this as I prefer science over religion but hey a lot of people loved The Exorcist even putting it as a number 1 horror movie of all time … to me it was just OK. I don’t mind supernatural but I hate it when people align it to a certain religion. To me it is blatant spreading of religion and basically undermining other religion.
Weakesses:
1. Now since it is Exorcist style Demonic possession with a good measure of Rabies/28 Days Laters/ Demoni style satanic creatures thrown in and Chief seems to have an idea what he is facing would it not have been a better idea to bring more back up, more and better weapons, More Crosses, Bibles and Water Guns with holy water. (mind you I still hate this idea that a demon can be conquered so easily with just saying some prayers but hell just to go with it … if it is possible then why not)
2. SWAT team was acting like a bunch of pansies and were clearly having issues. If a civilian was acting like that it is acceptable but not SWAT members. Even the first Casuality/Possession of Matros was unbelievable (as one doesn’t fight infected victims with hands but with guns which they had) but lets say for the sake of saying that it happened as Matros underestimated the danger. After this happened and Matros was subdued, SWAT should look more vigilant and shoot to kill at the first sight.
3. If everything was supposed to be secret, then why did the chief allow for recording the whole operation in the first place.
4. If some teenagers can come up with the idea of using sewer to get into the builing then how come fire-fighters in the first movie never thought of that (even if building own residents didn’t). They are usually aware of these things.
5. Speaking of which … assuming in first movie Fire-fighters and Building residents didn’t think about escaping through sewer .. But … this information .. that a building has a sewer hole is in their heads .. Is the demon so stupid that he can’t read this information in their heads and get the hell out of this building and spread out?? They were certainly everywhere else like in Airducts.
Even with above mentioned many plot-holes, I am giving it a generous seven as overall experience was good and given a choice, I will like to watch it again.
Even better than the 1st film!
More please
The best
Warning! You must have good cardio to watch this sequel because it is non-stop. Picking up right where they left off, Rec 2 is like the best haunted house you have ever been to with scares around every corner. My only complaint is that it wasn’t in English, because reading can be scary in and of itself haha.
I always think a movie with a good ending is a good movie it’s self. This ending is one of the most brilliant endings to a movie I’ve seen, it’s like if you watch the first one and this one afterwards it’s gone round in a circle and you get a conclusion to the events which occured after the first one’s ending, which was another clever thing about this movie.
I like the fact it keeps the handheld camera aspect yet cleverly does so on multiple cameras.
I also like how it ties another story in with it’s own and we get to see how that happened in the first place. Which is very basically how a group of teenagers got into the quarantined building. As example we see them in the movie filming being filmed by the swat team (not as confusing as it sounds), as the swat team question how they got there. Then later we see from the camera which the teenagers have how they actually did get inside the building, which is like another story, which ties in really well with the movie, and was un expected.
There were a few negative points about this movie but nothing all too major or worth mentioning. The camera was also shakier than the first, which gave me a bit of a headache when the movie was finnished, which is weird because I’ve seen alot of POV horrors/other movies and that’s never been the case.
But anyhow, I don’t personally think It’s better than the original (as the original is probably my favourite movie of all time), but It’s one of the best sequel movie you will find and i very much look forward to seeing more from this series.
This movie was fucking awesome. So much better than the first one. I knew it would be good, but it was much better than I expected. I cannot wait for the next two films.
as much as a fan i was of the first movie (it truly is one of THE BEST horror movies period!), i was looking very forward to this sequel. i would have been happy with the same old, same old for the sequel. i was all onboard UNTIL they made it a demonic possession movie. since i had rented this, i was gonna eject it quickly from the dvd player, thinking they jumped the shark on this one. boy am i glad i didn’t!!!!!! true, i’m not a fan of when they go from a zombie storyline to an Exorcist-style one. but in doing so made one creepy ass movie!! sure, there are the usual scares of things coming out at you at impromptu times, but the overall content and certain scenes will stay with you way after the movie is done. i agree that the first movie was better, but this really is a deserving sequel to be watched over and over.
I feel happy, but also let down, but overall, they cancel each other out and gives the sequel a great storyline, i just sorta miss the low budget feel of the series. Other than the bad CGI head shots, I loved the film and the climax twist!!
***SPOILER ALERT*** I was too pissed off to like this movie. Why would a trained member of a SWAT team that was briefed on the situation just stand there without firing a shot while some crazed rabid zombie attacks him? Just shoot the fucker in the head! Over and over again these idiots were incompetent assholes and deserved to die. I would have shot that stupid priest too. Another fucking idiot. I didn’t like one of the characters in this movie and was hoping they would all get killed. The back story of the demon possession and the original girl was interesting but ultimately could not save this turd.
I was disappointed in this one. I treated myself to a double feature of REC and REC 2. The sequel isn’t in the same ballpark as the first one. I gave REC a high rating…it’s the shit. REC 2 is merely okay, although it’s better than about 90% of the B.S. posing as horror films today. Worth a rent just don’t expect anything earth-shattering. Forget the Quarantine shite, go for the REC stuff.
another stupid sequel. not innovative like the first one. there are so many things that don’t make sense. not worth the time.
Wasn’t too worried about comparisons to the first–just enjoyed it for what it is: a fast and enjoyable shakycam-fest with the same ol’ chills and thrills that still work. Didn’t much care for the change of pace as far as viral origin goes, but whatever–still entertaining horror. Look forward to the next.
