The best Godzilla movie. This is a serious movie unlike the crappy Showa sequels that we’ve all seen on Saturday mornings.
dark and godzilla looks great.
I have been a huge Godzilla fan since I was a little kid, and I never saw that movie! I finally bought the dvd and all I have to say is that THIS is the best Godzilla movie ever! It takes a long time before we see Godzilla destroying something, but its worth the wait! The original Japanese movie is by far superior to the American version! I thought that Steve Martin kinda ruined the suspense and atmosphere with all the narration, and they removed a lot of scenes from the original!Oh well, Godzilla IS still the king of the monsters!
This Godzilla movie is better than all other Godzilla movies.
This is what Godzilla was supposed to be, in a decade plagued by giant monster movies, Godzilla was the only one that hit a serious tone. The monsters attack is handled tragedy, countless people left killed, homeless, or suffering from radiation poisoning.
Godzilla was a serious horror movie, with over tones based “Somewhat” in the reality of the aftermath of the nuclear age. A horror that in itself for the Japanese was all too real.
There is an amazing film to be seen here if one in this day and age can look past the “now” laughable special effects.
I love every Godzilla movie equally (except the U.S. abomination from 1998), but the original will always be special. Dark, serious, and some amazing special effects for the day. A true monster classic.
Brilliant!Godzilla is king!
classic!
I’m lucky because this was the first Godzilla movie I saw. I can see now why it had such an impact, for 1954, the intensity of the scenes and the seriousness of the subject matter (nuclear weapons, radiation, war, large-scale disasters, etc) beat out all other monster movies of the time. When Godzilla first appears, it is a classic scene that will be burned in my memory forever. My favourite monster movie of all time.
So this is the first and most scariest and true godzilla movies. Even to this day in 2011 it still stands and a historical movie. With the events that have happen in Japan, seeing some things in this movie were just sad. And it was a warning back then and a warning now. Yeah we all know that a giant dinosaur won’t be attacking. But that’s not the case here Godzilla is the weapon of war. This movie has so many good messages, and for it’s time and now is still a brave bold movie. I always loved godzilla as a kid and now. he is one of my favorites and will always be. If you haven’t seen this please do.
