Yeah. Seriously! No reviews? Wtf? This is classic stuff here people.

It’s Stephen King and George Romero. What else could you ask for?

Not a single lame story in this anthology. Order some pizza, have a few beers and enjoy.

This was after Tales from the Crypt, however, Romero and King both where heavily influenced by these comics that they developed a movie that was sort of a satire/parody of Tales but in the same time a tribute to that comic book. In this movie there are four scary stories being told some written by Stephen King from his short stories and some written by Romero and SK. These stores, for that time, were pretty scary and freaked me out when they came in theaters. There are many great things about this movie that I enjoyed but there was, however, one huge things that I did not like about this movie. Regardless, it’s about time for two horror geniuses to team up and do something good for a change.

First off, the movie itself is about a comic book similar to Tails and the four stories in the movie come directly from the Creepshow comic books. The reason why that this idea works in not only the principle of bringing a comic book to life but the way it was shot, edited and lit. The camera angles had very defined and geometrical angels, similar to those that you would see in a comic book. The lighting when something horrible happens turns red, or if somebody is screaming the background turns to a shattered red background, thereby giving each scene a more comic book-like feel to visual picture. It had choppy edits and quick cuts, which we all know that comic books have. So we have a visual perspective of a comic, the overall pattern and texture of a comic and now we have the quick stimulus of a comic.

Between each story there is a sub-story dealing with a young boy who finds the Creepshow comic book and how little by little he becomes more possessed by it. These intermissions also incorporate The Creep or our host for the evening. This character is by far the Crypt Keeper or the Vault Keeper to our mockup of Tales. Like the Crypt Keeper in the actual comic, he begins each segment with a scene setup and a conclusion, however he does not talk, he just blows around in the wind. With the beginning of each new story it starts out with a still scene of that story with heavy rotoscoping to make it look as if it is a comic book page, then fades out to a real-life still image and then begins. The same could be said about the ending. The clever technique gives the viewer a further illustration that this is a comic book come to life.

Though this movie strikes it rich on my scare-o-meter there is just one thing that took me out of the movie just a little. I know what they where going at when they decided this concept and I understand it was a good idea but it doesn’t work when it gets put on film. The campy one-liners, the cheesy sub-story and the lame screams. Of course its predecessor did the same thing, I don’t think that it works as well on film as it does on paper. I think it was a nice try though.

Overall I do believe that this is a horror/parody classic and that many horror fans, if not cult horror fans, would like this movie for what it is. I certainly enjoyed it, even now; I recommend this movie to anybody who loves the zombie king and the horror king. A movie worth buying a ticket for.

A classic & a personal favorite. It’s one of the best horror films, anthologies, comic adaptions ever made. With a dream team of Stephen King, George Romero & Tom Savini at work where can you go wrong. Should be in every horror fans collection.

little short tales of mind bending horror, what a good idea Stephen King:

FATHER’s DAY: a lame story, but kinda entertaining seeing a dead father killing for cake

THE LONESOME DEATH OF JORDY VERRILL: i totally hated this story because it made no sense

SOMETHING TO TIDE YOU OVER: this was a cool story. an old fashioned father getting revenge on his cheating wife and her lover, and then they come back as zombies who want to tide him as well. a brilliant masterpiece

THE CRATE: awesome. i love Fluffy (the monster) and so does everyone else, especially how he kills Henry’s abusive wife for him

THEY’RE CREEPING UP ON YOU: a little disturbing, but that’s why i like it

A great idea, short story horror made into a movie. The problem is not the right combination of stories and not delivered very well. Just didn’t do it for me.

This a pure classic and all the stories are great. The one with the roaches still makes me squirm and feel ichy. This is the 2nd best horror anthology only to Trick r Treat. But all the same this is a classic.

This isn’t my cup of tea. It’s a campy b-movie with terrible acting and almost zero laughs. At best it is mildly amusing. I can’t belive this is a Romero film.

Best anthology ever, and the best film Romero and King have ever done. That “Meteor shit” line cracks me up every time.

Creepshow is exactly that. It’s very original and often very creepy but always in a fun way. It has great effects and funny, cool stories to tell. Definetley check it out if your a fan of fun horror films from the 80′s because this is one of the best.

Stepehen King, George Romero and Tom Savini all have made this film “Creepshow”

The movie composes five short tales of horror and thrilling action.

The First Tale is called “Fathers Day” A sick and twisted father that dies and attempts to get revenge on all the family members. Not my favorite, but hell does it get things started. The special effects are great and the acting is good. Overall, again, not the best but worth it just to get pumped up.

The Second Tale and my favorite is The Lonsesome Death of Jordy Verill, Stephen King plays the dopey farmer that discovers a mediore that zoomed into his backyard. Everything it touches it grows a green sort of plant, this happens to be my favorite because just the fact of having stuff grow on you is so creepy and compelling. The ending when Jordy dies is so creepy and he looks like a monster because the entire plant grows on his body. He nearly suffocated with the green plant but he discovers a shotgun and blows himself in the head. Awesome and scary.

Something To Tide You Over is another scary one
and this one has to be the most suspensful because firstly, Leslie Neilson plays a villian trying to get revenge on his cheating wife and the man she slept with. They watch each other drown by the tide coming in and then re-appear all decane and just scary as shit. They kill Leslie Neilson by giving him a taste of his own medicine. Not the best, but sure has hell fucking weird.

The Crate is by far the most scariest and longest tale of them all, but for good reasons. That tale will surely give you the creeps. The wolf itself is so scary but you rarely get to see but that’s good because you have to use your imagination. Not much of a body count, but not needed. It’s the creepiest of the bunch.

Finally, Last but not lease. The most disgusting of the bunch. They’re Creeping Up On You. A cruel and ruthless businessman whose mysophobia has been keeping him locked up in a nice looking flat. He picks on those little sorts of people who do nothing to harm. This one is disgusting just because of the end of the tale. he lays there and while the scariest music you will ever here in your entire life plays, Cochroaches start pouring out of his mouth then ripping out of his chest, blood feels eveywhere and literally the entire room is full of Roaches!

Creepshow is one of those fun films that doesn’t take itself so seriously. I definitley reccommend watching this and being Creeped out.
