Video: Cage, Heard, and Burke Talk ‘Drive Angry’

Hitting theaters today is Drive Angry 3D, a supernaturally tinged revenge tale that’s loaded with action and humor. The great William Fichtner shines as “The Accountant”, a profane (and hilarious) bounty hunter of sorts who is tasked with finding Milton (Nicolas Cage) and bringing him back to where he’s from (which is a surprise in the movie, though the trailer gives it away). Helping Milton is B-D fave Amber Heard, who steals the movie away from her co-stars with her crazy stunts and attitude. In short, it’s a ton of fun (did I mention Tom Atkins plays a small role as a machine-gunning sheriff?), and even though its horror elements are a bit light, it’s definitely worth checking out, and another success for Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer, the director/writer team behind the smash My Bloody Valentine 3D. To whet your appetite, check below for a pair of exclusive interviews with Cage, Heard, and Billy Burke, who plays the film’s main villain: Jonah King, a colorful cross between Charles Manson and Jim Morrison. Patrick Lussier Updates ‘Hellraiser’ – Won’t Necessarily Be in 3-D

In our exclusive chat with Drive Angry 3D director Patrick Lussier about his latest film – releasing in theaters this Friday! – B-D reporter Chris Eggertsen of course had to ask him about the planned Hellraiser reboot, the script for which he and partner-in-crime Todd Farmer are currently writing. As has previously been reported, the film will not be a traditional remake following the plot of the original story but rather a “reboot” that will come at the Hellraiser universe from a new angle focusing heavily on the “world” of the Lament Configuration puzzle box. Best & Worst of 2010: The Year’s Best One Sheets

A film’s poster (also known as a one-sheet) is often the first impression we get of a movie, making it an incredibly important tool in building advance buzz. The job of these posters is two-fold: a) to catch our attention and get us interested in learning more about the film in question; and b) to give us at least a basic sense of what the film is about. While multiplexes are littered with generic one-sheets that might as well have been spit out by a computer, there are always a select few that manage to get it right, and like years past B-D has compiled a list of the best from the past year. Whether the films turned out to be worthy of the artistry that went into marketing them is another question entirely, which just goes to show that sometimes even the worst movies are backed by a savvy marketing team, whose job it to sell the product – no matter how sub-par (or downright awful) that product may be. ‘Drive Angry’ Shot in REAL 3-D, Lussier Explains Why Post-3-D is Garbage

Seriously, I’m getting super fed up with this 3-D bullsh*t. James Cameron made it so that the technology wouldn’t be a gimmick, yet all of the studios are using post-conversion processes to save money and energy. Their excuse? They don’t have the budget. My answer, so what, we should pay extra money for your sh*t product? Dimension has sh*t Piranha 3D coming out, Warner Bros. Pictures’ sh*t Clash of the Titans is now in theaters, as is Disney’s sh*t Alice in Wonderland. Keep making sh*t and watch the consumer turn their back on it. You want 3-D to succeed? DO IT RIGHT. Drive Angry 3D director Patrick Lussier talked to MTV this week about their shoot, which is the REAL DEAL (thank god). Check out what he had to say below. (more…) READ MORE
