I love a good thriller, especially one where a good time ends so very, very badly (and appears to give homage to the great Alfred Hitchcock). READ MORE
The worst list was much easier for me to make than my ‘best’ list – barely a week went by without me being massively disappointed with something. Overall, it seems the main problem is filmmakers being more in love with their technology than their stories. All of these movies (OK, SOME of them) are well made, but all the bells and whistles can’t make up for a shit script. There’s just way too much mediocrity out there as of late, and looking over this list and next year’s schedule, I fear a 90s style wasteland may be fast approaching. Try harder, studios and filmmakers. (more…) READ MORE

The task of selling a film is probably much, much harder than any of us realize, which is why posters meant to stir up excitement for upcoming releases are often so badly calculated. 2010 has been no exception, with a large number of god-awful (or just plain boring) one-sheets cluttering up the lobbies of multiplexes all across the country. Here’s B-D’s list of the worst offenders from the past year. (more…) READ MORE
Weight loss. Quit smoking. Stop spending. Sounds familiar, right? With New Years Eve and the dawn of 2011 only about a week away, the year’s biggest, most burning question is probably hidden somewhere in the depths of your mind- what will be your New Year’s resolution? Looking over the past year in horror, it’s hard to imagine anyone NOT wanting to change something- whether it’s an ending, a release, or just a movie in general, horror, just like any genre, has had its share of ups and downs. So maybe this year’s burning question should be what is HORROR’S New Year’s Resolution? On the ninth day of Christmas, Bloody-Disgusting gave to me- “Horror’s New Year’s Resolutions”. Bloody Disgusting got the scoop on the first casting for HBO’s pilot episode of All Signs of Death, which comes from the creator of pay cabler’s earlier hit “Six Feet Under” and current smash “True Blood”. We can exclusively confirm that Ben Whishaw (Perfume: The Story of a Murderer), Clayne Crawford (“24″), Mercedes Masohn (Quarantine 2: Terminal), Ron Yuan (“Prison Break”), Jeremy Ray Valdez, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali (Predators), and Kelsey Ford (Vampires Suck) all star in the pilot directed by Ball, from a script by Charlie Huston, who also penned the crime noir novel “The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death” from which the series is based. BC laughs once, and chuckles three times during Vampires Suck: “Ultimately, the most insulting thing about the film is that it was made, and made so poorly. You’d think mocking the Twi-films would be like shooting fish in a barrel, but Friedberg/Seltzer completely failed to mine the material for anything even approaching quality satire (the jokes are so predictable I actually called out a punchline 30 seconds before it occurred at one point).” Click the title above for the full review, and don’t forget to check back here and write your own review to tell all of BD what YOU thought. I LOVE to laugh. Laughing releases endorphins. It makes you feel good. So I’m dying to know why all of the clips from 20th Century Fox’s Vampires Suck make me wanna yack? In fact, the Twilight movies look 50x more entertaining than this half-assed garbage arriving in theaters on Wednesday, August 18. We received a third clip that spoofs the line “I know what you are” from Twilight. The spoof flick is a (so-called) comedy about contemporary teen angst and romance movies. Becca, an anxious, non-vampire teen, is torn between two boys. Before she can choose, Becca must get around her controlling father, who embarrasses Becca by treating her like a child. Meanwhile, Becca’s friends contend with their own romantic issues – all of which collide at the prom. (more…) READ MORE
