By the time it ended, I was like…O_o It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t feel like Children of the Corn. Really, there aren’t any children OR corn. It had an ok story, good acting, and a few really cool scenes. Overall, i’d say it was a fun movie to watch, but I would have enjoyed more “Children of the Corn” esque material. All those were good if you are able to set aside the originals and just enjoy them as stand alone movies, which is what I did with this addition to the Children of the Corn series.I must say I found it quite enjoyable and it kept me interested…until the ending. It’s one of those what the hell kind of endings.I said to myself “That was it?!” right when the credits hit. Overall this one is decent but the ending leaves much to be desired.Upon seeing the finale one could only think that they ran out of ideas or overspent the budget. FYI: Do not get the blu-ray release! It’s almost around twenty dollars and it has no special features except for an interview(just like the dvd release).Save your money and go dvd if you’re curious. Billy Drago himself is one scary dude and I’m glad to see they casted him for the bizarre roll. Genesis did a great job of making you think something interesting was going to happen but with some delivery issues, this one ends up a bit short. And its really too bad, because the cast did a good job of selling the movie. Like has been stated already, Genesis has little, Children or Corn and would have probably done better as a stand alone. The first half of the movie really held my interest, without the blatant “creepy kids” running around everywhere it turned into more of a “fear of the unknown” scenario. I was really enjoying it until I looked at the time and realized there was only like five- ten minutes left to come up with an ending, which leads me to my next comment, “WTF?” They really did use footage from Bad Boys 2 lmao. Director Joel Soisson pretty much comes right out in the interview and says that they had no money to incorporate a real ending, so they went online and bought some “stock footage” and built the end of the movie around it, that stock footage being that of the car carrier in Bad Boys 2… Hmmm. It’s a shame because I was really digging this movie up until the out of place ending, it just didn’t fit the tone of the movie at all and felt forced.. Worth a look though as its a step above the rest of the entries, Revelations anyone? Not much of a death count or story line and of course the acting is really poor. Theres one child instead of several and they only show him 3 or 4 times, he spends most of the movie in a shed not doing anything. I’ll give it 1 star and thats being nice Posted By Protecious on February 3, 2012 @ 2:24 pm Log in to Reply ★★☆☆☆ What a mess, just like hellraiser revelations you know its going to be bad but our dumbasses have to give it a try anyway, i dont know what was worse this or the recent remake for tv Posted By crazyhorror on February 16, 2012 @ 10:28 am Log in to Reply ★★★★☆ Children of The Corn Genesis is one of the finest direct to DVD sequels. This movie wasn’t so bad so far and it is even better than the previous Children of The Corn sequels and this movie is even better than Hellraiser Revelations. Unlike the horrid Hellraiser Revelations that movie was shot on a cheap budget because Dimension films is about to lose their rights to the franchise and so the filmmakers came up with a quick idea of making Hellraiser Revelations mainly with just a quick plot and decent new actors and actresses. But this movie was mainly shot on a tight budget than a cheap budget so mainly Children of The Corn Genesis isn’t so bad. I personally find this movie to be ok it’s still not as good as the original but it’s fine. This movie at least has an interesting plot and the plot is almost similar to the original Stephen King adaptation because it focus on a young couple like the original Children of the Corn with a different plot only. I kinda like this movie it wasn’t so bad so far but I did like the pacing of the movie so far. I like how the tension starts when they met the house owner Billy Drago so they know that they’re in big trouble and it is unknown when he will kick them both out and the tension starts in each scene. What’s great about this movie is that the film has lots of supernatural and haunting elements because in the later on parts of the film we see various sequences happening like when Tim tries to leave with his wife and the door closes on its own and we also see objects flying around the room like tables and wooden made cross as well plus this film also has voodoo elements because we see people being controlled by unknown ways because there’s a scene in the movie when the police officer dragged really fast in the air and the couple doesn’t know what happened until they try to leave which makes this movie really good. Now the film also has lots of suspenceful scenes and director Joel Soisson just put his pedal to the medal and the tension and suspense in the movie rises in each scene which even makes the movie two times better than before plus the performances of Tim Rock and Kelen Coleman along with Billy Drago really raised the bar higher because the three of them seriously did an incredible job with their performances in the movie so far. I also like the antagonist of the movie as well the little boy seriously looks creepy because his characteristics in the film seriously creeped me out I mainly describe him as a quiet and creepy kid because the boy is really mute and he doesn’t speak at all in the movie which even makes the film better so far. The main problem with this movie is that there’s too many cliches and no atmosphere as well plus the ending of this movie is seriously disappointing just like the Hellraiser Revelations ending but I didn’t find it that bad unlike the ending of Hellraiser Revelations which was super disappointing the ending of this movie isn’t so bad it’s just fine but a little bit disappointing so far. Director Joel Soisson did a really good job with his directing in this movie so far and he did a better job with his directing in this film than Pulse 2 and 3 which were considered to be the worst movies ever and he was down the hill with those films but with this movie he raised a bit higher but not too high so he did a great job so far. Overall Children of The Corn Genesis gets a 7/10. It’s simple, nothing is scarier or more creepy than children who kill people. The eighth film, like several of the other sequels, doesn’t take place in Gatlin, and is very loosely tied to the original story. I give this movie credit for possibly being the creepiest children of the corn, and for doing it without much of the gore the other films featured. A lot of the credit goes to veteran movie actor, Billy Drago, who is just creepy by nature. There is no denying the film is creepy, but is it good? No, not really! The story is very slow at times, inconsistent, and some what predictable. Genesis had a bit more potential than some of its predecessors, but in the end, despite the creepy vibe it gives off, it’s just another really bad sequel that we didn’t need.
