Abel Ferrara’s ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ Won’t Be Happening

It looks as if Warner Bros. Pictures’ modern Jeykll & Hyde adaptation won’t be happening. Both Forest Whitaker and Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson were attached with Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant) just about ready to get behind the camera — only something went wrong. “He could be an awesome Ed Hyde. He’s the real deal,” Ferrara tells The Guardian as he looks at a photo of 50 Cent. “But it’s not gonna get made…Warner Brothers have put up about one fifth of what the film should cost and want about one third of what it’s gonna make, and I’m supposed to kiss the feet of whoever made that deal.” Ferrara continues, “They never made Jekyll & Hyde the way it was written. It’s a guy and his creation. Having one actor play both parts is an abomination, a distortion of Stevenson’s story. It’s a masterpiece. I’m gonna make it one day.” When that day comes, hopefully he’ll think of a better cast. (more…) READ MORE

Witchcraft and Hot Models in ‘Trick of the Witch’

L.A. based indie filmmaker Chris Morrissey returns to the scene with the start of principal photography on the supernatural thriller Trick of the Witch. Inspired by Italian witchcraft Stregheria, the feature film stars actress Share Cherrie (Lipgloss Explosion!) in the leading role along with acclaimed indie vets Owen Alabado (Rock Haven), Suzy Cote (CSI, The Guardian, Guiding Light), and Australian cult star Abigail De’Ath. The film centers on a group of fashion models that get tangled up in a terrifying witchcraft curse while stranded at a secluded mansion during a photo shoot. (more…) READ MORE

First EVER Review for Lucky McKee’s ‘The Woods’!!

In my opinion one of the most surprising and kick ass independent films I’ve ever seen was Lucky McKee’s May (review), which was released on DVD last year. With the announcement of his next flick, The Woods, I was very excited, up until tonight at 5 AM. Just getting home from watching Plan 9 from Outer Space, I have sitting the first ever review for The Wood, and it’s bad – very bad. Read on to see what Noah the Movie Kid had to say about the flick that hits theaters october 1st – remember, I have NOT checked to see if this is legit yet, but it appears to be pretty real to me.
