Anchor Bay leads a nice week of releases with The Evil Dead on Blu-ray. Sure, you have a few versions sitting around, but you don’t have it in the crystal clarity that is Blu-ray, yet. Troma makes a welcome appearance as well, releasing Dead Eyes Open and the aptly named heavy metal horror flick, Heavy Mental. Other notables include releases from IFC Films, The Red Riding trilogy on Blu-ray/DVD and the British Horror/Comedy, Tormented. I will be dropping some cash on Tuesday, will you? (more…) READ MORE

Sony Home Entertainment’s direct-to-disc release The Cottage was a pretty huge success among Bloody Disgusting readers as Director Paul Andrew Williams delivered a movie that hit on all fronts. Now, Williams is back with Cherry Tree Lane, a new home invasion flick about a couple who are terrorised in their own home by a gang of youths hunting their son. Today we were supplied with a bunch of new stills from the UK horror comedy The Cottage (clips/trailer), which arrives on DVD May 13 from Sony Home Entertainment. “The Cottage” is a black comedy horror pic set in the remote countryside, about two brothers who bungle the kidnapping of the daughter of a crime boss and then stumble across a dark rural secret. We’ve got a whole bunch of goodies from the UK horror-comedy, The Cottage, which hits UK cinemas on March 14 with a May 13 DVD release planned here in the US from Sony Home Entertainment.
