Excellent Start – Two episodes in, the storylines that will either find the show sinking or swimming are coming to the surface. Great surprise to find Lily Taylor as the mysteriously smoldering teenage gypsy kid’s mother. Really the most magnetic presences here are the aforementioned Gypsy Kid and a similarly bizarre minded friend (or foe?) Roman Godfrey. To say this is “Twin Peaks” does both shows a disservice, they have different tones – it might be a good comparison to give the uniniated and invite or not to watch. “Twin Peaks” is more playful, while here darkness pervades. So far, I find “Hannibal” the best horror show this fall, but “Hemlock Grove” may overtake it, the deeper the mystery envelops, engulfs, and reveals something deeper and unseen before in horror television. I am not sure the mushroom man episode of “Hannibal” can be topped….but this is shaping up fantastically – on to episode three…
I loved Hemlock Grove, actually watched all 13 episodes over the weekend lol…i can’t wait for the next season to be released!
When i first heard of this, i wasn’t expecting much. With so many Fantasy/Supernatural Shows/Movies already it’s hard to maintain interest on the subject, but by the end of episode one, i was already completely hooked. Hemlock Grove is not another Supernatural show, rather i belive, it’s a Mystery one that just happens to have fantasy/supernatural creatures. Don’t go expecting major action scenes, the series goes on a slow pace, but it works. Bill Skarsgård steals the scene as the weird Roman Godfrey, but the rest of the cast does a pretty solid job as well. Is it entertaining and I found the characters to be far more interesting than most shows with supernatural/fantasy creatures. Sure, there is room for improvement, but the only thing bad about this show is Famke’s fake accent, which is annoying at most, but i could get past that and enjoy the series. Hopefully Netflix will give us a second season soon, which i cannot wait for.
