I love this movie. I think this movie is better than the previous one (Aliens). It had a good pace, storyline, and acting.

Having only seen the first three Alien films, I have to admit that this one is definitely the worst, despite the brilliant director being involved. There are no likable characters here, being that they’re all criminal scum that don’t even get any characterisation. The majority are there just to be killed by the alien as an attempt to lift the dull mood that is created throughout the first half of the film. The pacing is extremely slow until the somewhat exciting finale occurs.

Ripley hasn’t got that spunk that made her so likable in the first two films. Here she just seems moody and broody. The film is also at least 20 minutes too long. It tries to go back to the basics of the first film but doesn’t pack that same stylistic and claustraphobic atmosphere. The animated alien also looks awful, however the practical one is arguably the best looking alien of the series! The iconic moment where the alien gets right up to Sigourney’s face is also very well done.

Unfortunately, Alien 3 carries dull baggage for a long way through. The finale lifts the film off its un-suspenseful feet and the ending is also very powerful. They should of dropped Sigourney off at “Aliens” nevermind make yet another sequel!
