[SXSW '13 Review] Gory ‘Milo’ A Cross Between ‘Ghoulies’ and ‘Knocked Up’

Horror and comedy go together like, well, they usually don’t go together all that well. Sometimes it works, and we get a gem of a lifetime – think James Gunn’s Slither. Besides Evil Dead, I was incredibly jealous that Evan Dickson was on hand for the world premiere of Milo, a new horror comedy starring the brilliant Ken Marino as a man with intense stomach trouble who horror that he actually has a demon living inside his intestines. [News Bites] Bond Girl Joins ‘World’s End’, ‘Dead of Winter’ Confirmed, ‘Hansel & Gretel’ Rated-”R”, And ‘Milo’ Goes ‘Project X’!

Musicvideo and commercials helmer Anthony Mandler is attached to direct Lionsgate’s Dead of Winter, a Black List thriller written by tyro scribe Sarah Conradt that has Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) attached to star, reports Variety from a scoop right here on Bloody Disgusting back in February. “Steinfeld is slated to play a teen who heads to a remote cabin in the mountains with her father and new stepmother — an experience he hopes will bring the two ladies closer together. When a dangerous fugitive posing as a park ranger shows up, the trio must put aside the family bonding to fight for survival.” Producers are aiming for an early 2013 start date. READ MORE
