‘Breeder’ – Deranged Poodle Breeder Movie Coming This Fall from Shudder & IFC
An eccentric poodle breeder is the villain in the upcoming horror movie Breeder, and Variety reports that Independent Film Company and Shudder have acquired the film.
Breeder is the feature debut of director Alex Goyette.
Variety details, “The film is about an eccentric poodle breeder who lures a broke college student to her remote ranch with a promise of research funding.
“As he soon learns, there’s a catch.”
Daniel Doheny, Dot Marie Jones, Maddie Phillips, and Tanaya Beatty star.
Expect to see the release of Breeder in Fall 2026.
Breeder will first premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this month.
“Independent Film Company and Shudder have always been a dream home for us,” Alex Goyette said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to partner with them to bring Breeder to audiences following its world premiere at Tribeca. As conversations around eugenics continue to resurface, our film confronts those ideas through the eyes of a deranged poodle breeder.”
“Breeder is the kind of movie that makes you lean forward and ask, ‘How did they get away with this?’” said Mark Ward of IFC Entertainment Group. “It’s provocative and constantly surprises you just when you think you’ve figured it out. We knew the moment we saw it that audiences will be talking about it long after they leave the theater, and we can’t wait to shock audiences on the big screen later this year.”

The Goddess of Love Gets Monstrous in ‘Love is the Monster’ Trailer
The goddess of love might be a monster in the new trailer for Love is the Monster, the latest from Sound of Violence filmmaker Alex Noyer.
Madeline Zima (“Doom Patrol,” “Twin Peaks”) and Leonardo Nam (Werewolf by Night, “Westworld”) star as the unlucky couple discovering romance’s malovelent side when they arrive at the ill-fated Finnish retreat.
Love is the Monster will be available to rent or own on Prime Video on June 23.
The official synopsis: “Following their marriage being rocked by infidelity, Ana and Justin attend an exclusive couples retreat in Finland, under the golden rays of the summer’s midnight sun. They join other international couples to experience the transformative teachings of the shaman and healer, Tiina, inspired by the ancient Finnish goddess of love and fertility, Lempo.
“Despite her doubts and some ominous first experiences, Ana gives the retreat a chance, but the thrill is quickly replaced by a battle for survival, as the influence of the divinity and the pagan rituals turn deadly. Couples’ problems lead to calamity, while Ana learns about the peculiar role she unwittingly plays in Tiina’s plans.”
Kimberly Sue-Murray (“The Boys”), Moe Jeudy-Lamour (“Ted Lasso”), Kristina Tonteri-Young (“Warrior Nun“), Milla Puolakanaho (Attack on Helsinki), and Sheila McCarthy (Women Talking) also star.
Noyer co-wrote the script with his Sound of Violence collaborator Hannu Aukia and Blair Bathory. Laurence Gendron joins Noyer and Aukia as a producer.
“Releasing Love Is the Monster during Finnish midsummer couldn’t be more fitting, as it’s when our story unfolds. While a real trip to Finland is far less eventful, our devious goddess Lempo is ready to welcome audiences,” Noyer said in a statement.
