Limited Edition Version of “The Walking Dead” Season 7 Has Crazy Packaging

As we recently told you, the complete seventh season of “The Walking Dead” is headed to DVD and Blu-ray on August 22. But if you can wait a little while longer, a super deluxe version is set to arrive just in time for the Season 8 premiere.

Revealed by Yahoo this week, the Limited Edition Spike Walker With Soft Touch Digipak release of “The Walking Dead” Season 7 will be exclusively available through Amazon this coming October.

The set from Lionsgate and Anchor Bay Entertainment was created by McFarlane Toys and it brings memorable walker “Winslow” into your home video collection.

The limited set will feature “special mechanics with one of the chest spikes” so that “collectors will have to remove the spike and drive it back into the sculpture to release the Blu-ray box set underneath the bust.”

Winslow is also featured on the box set art (below), exclusive to this release.

In the seventh season…

“Picking up immediately after the thrilling cliff-hanger, Negan forces Rick and the group to fall under his will, brutally convincing them to live by his rules. To prevent further bloodshed, Rick genuinely believes they can make life under Negan, however terrible, work. But he soon learns that Negan can’t be reasoned with, and they must prepare to go to war now. Victory will require more than Alexandria, and Rick will need to convince their new allies from the Kingdom and Hilltop to band together with the common goal of taking down Negan and his army.”

I would’ve preferred something with Lucille instead. For some reason this doesn’t do anything for me. It’s definitely one of the weaker TWD collector’s editions.

    • Make a Lucille!

      • American Atheist

I already have two. One is a B/W replica and the other one is a real one I got from Ebay.

It would be nice if they made a box set that didn’t have a walker seeing as the show barely has walkers anymore. A bust of Negan containing the discs would be awesome.

        • Yeah, I’d be all over a bust of Neegan. I have been rewatching Supernatural with my boyfriend and seeing Jeffrey Dean Morgan as John Winchester is extremely unsatisfying in comparison.

          • American Atheist

I always see Supernatural on at the gym when I’m working out. It’s funny seeing JDM playing that role after seeing him play Negan. The Comedian will always be my favorite JDM role.

AMC censors way too much of the TWD source material to let JDM truly embrace the role of Negan. I always wished TWD would’ve been on HBO or another premium channel instead of AMC. Outcast is done well. Ash v Evil Dead is great too.

          • I need to read the source material. I’ve been told I’d like it, though I have never cared for graphic novels and comics.

          • American Atheist

Your doing yourself a disservice. TWD graphic novels are where it’s at.

The Governor was a joke compared to the comics. The real story between the Governor and Michonne is extremely dark in the comics.

Andrea is actually a bad ass in the comics unlike what AMC did to her. Andrea is my favorite character in the comics. She rocks!

If you are a fan of Negan you have to read his profanity laced dialogue. He’s a different animal in the comics. It’s a shame TWD isn’t on a premium channel.

          • I will have to see if Dad has them. Otherwise, I’ll find a way. From what I’ve heard, there’s a lot of horror comics and graphic novels I’m missing out on as well. ^.^ Dad is the reason I got into the horror genre in the first place.

          • American Atheist

That’s cool. I grew up watching horror movies. My grandparents took me to the movies/drive-in to watch horror movies when they came out. They’d cover my eyes when there was nudity or a sex scene. Lol. The good old days. I miss my grandparents, they were a lot of fun to be around.

          • Lucky! That’s awesome and it is great that you have those memories!

          • American Atheist

            I’m greatful. Take care.

          • dr.chimrichalds

In the comics, doesn’t the Governor rape Michonne, nail someone’s dick to a piece of wood & gun down Lori while she’s holding the baby?

          • American Atheist

LOL. You’re all over the place. Do yourself a favor and read the graphic novels. The graphic novels are a hell of a lot better than the show is. AMC’s cheap ass should’ve kept Darabont.

          • dr.chimrichalds

I lost interest in the show around season 5. I’ve read some of the source material.

    • Danielle

All the limited edition sets are walker related, not prop or cast related.

  • J Jett

    that’s freaking awesome!

  • oh_riginal

For some reason I was really impressed with this zombie in the trailers, but upon seeing the actual episode I felt underwhelmed.

    • American Atheist

      That episode was a joke.

  • WhoTheHellisBen

The thing that annoys me is the last four or so limited edition boxes have a the walker reaching forward, it’s getting a little boring. Season 2 and 3 had the absolute best ones

    • Danielle

This one is interactive again apparently…you have to use one of the spikes and put it in his chest to get the discs out.

  • Necro

About time they release another one of these! I have seasons 2, 3, & 4 and poof! they stop doing them! So I can wait until this drops.

  • I don’t do discs because I use all my shelves for books, but this is one I would definitely like to have.

  • Dennis Chenier

Nobody does cooler box sets than McFarlane and The Walking Dead.
