‘Silver Bullet’ Finally Getting (Region Free) Blu-ray Release; Check Out the Art!

For years, horror fans have been writing “top 10 movies that need Blu-ray releases” articles, and the 1985 adaptation of Stephen King’s Silver Bullet is typically on them.

This coming January, it can no longer be included on those lists.

Australian home video company Umbrella Entertainment has just announced that they’ll finally be bringing Silver Bullet to Blu-ray in January, and it’ll be a Region Free release!

Extras include:

  • Audio Commentary with Director Daniel Attias
  • The Wolf Within – An Interview with Actor Everett McGill
  • Full Moon Fever – Interviews with Special Effects Artists Michael McCracken, Jr. and Matthew Mungle
  • Dino’s Angel Takes on Lycanthropy: Martha De Laurentis Remembers SILVER BULLET (25 minutes)
  • Isolated Score Selections and Audio Interview with Composer Jay Chattaway
  • Theatrical trailer (HD)
  • TV Spot
  • Radio Spot
  • Still Gallery

Check out Simon Sherry’s cover art below.

[The cover is] an homage to the classic King paperback covers,” Sherry notes. “It was also an opportunity to pay tribute to one of my influences, the legendary Bernie Wrightson, who collaborated with King on the source novella, Cycle of the Werewolf.”

The best werewolf movie of the 80’s and one of the best period. Great short book too. Season one of Stranger Things has some music that I am convinced is inspired by Silver Bullet or another one of my 80’s guilty pleasures, A Return to Salems Lot

You seem to be forgetting “The Howling”……..

      • dukeblues

The Howling was not very good, IMO

The only scene I liked was in the doctor’s office while the victim was removing files from a filing cabinet. THAT was a terrifying werewolf scene. The rest was kind of lame….

  • Laura Kinney (X-23)

Awesome, AWESOME werewolf movie!! One of my personal faves!!

    • Necro

      Absolutely Laura, absolutely!

  • Demonizer

    Hell yeah!

Umbrella are really turning into a Down Under Scream factory and I love it ( as a Kiwi without a region free Blu Ray player I can’t buy/watch Scream titles as of yet). They also put out The Blob, Night of the Creeps, Chainsaw Massacre, Suspiria etc.

Would liked to have seen an interview with Gary Busey and Megan Follows and sadly Corey Haim is no longer around to talk about it. I guess I’ll just have to settle for an interview with Everett McGill and a audio commentary from the director.

      Agreed!

Fun movie and a personal favorite of mine from the werewolf genre. If only the werewolf looked as good as the one on this cover.

Finally! My personal favorite ‘Werewolf’ movie ever! And the music score is great! There’s a lot of iconic music, scores, & themes in Horror, but none of them ever gave me nightmares, except for ‘Silver Bullet’! Creepy as hell! Can’t wait!

i freaking LOVE this movie! imo it’s one of the rare movies that i consider to be perfect. there’s really nothing that i would change about it. 🙂

  • You can already get it in Germany: Der Werewolf Von Tarken Mills. I’ll wait and see what features this has that the German release doesn’t in terms of quality.

  • iheartmoviemusic

I AM SO EXCITED!! Especially with the music feature – this is one of my favorite scores and movies ever. I still have nightmares to this day about the good reverend turning into a wererwolf chasing me and the score is almost always playing in the background getting my heart racing.

LOVE Silver Bullet!! The Gary Busey lines alone are worth the watch!!!!!

  • gjk2012 .

RIP Corey Haim. Too bad every time I see him in film I think of all the rapists and pedos in Hollywood. One of the reasons why people don’t come to speak out is that it would ruin their work and reputation.

    • J Jett

really? THAT is what you instantly think of when you think of Haim and not some of the admittedly good films he’s made?

      • iheartmoviemusic

        Agreed.

      • gjk2012 .

Its hard not to think about it with the current events unfolding in the industry. Of course he was in some good movies but was it worth the abuse he took?

  • Hank_Scorpio

Love this movie, it’s in my October rotation….
