Scream Factory Announces 1987 Action/Horror Film ‘Nightmare at Noon’

In addition to releasing some of our favorite movies on Blu-ray, Scream Factory has also introduced us to countless gems from the past. On that note, they’ve just announced that 1987’s Nightmare at Noon (aka Death Street USA) is headed to Blu-ray!

“When three tourists stop at a roadside diner, they become the unwitting victims of a lethal scientific experiment in NIGHTMARE AT NOON—which releases on Blu-ray for the first time and features a new HD transfer!”

Directed by Nico Mastorakis (The Zero Boys), this entertaining thriller includes a B-Movie all-star cast featuring Wings Hauser (Vice Squad), Bo Hopkins (Mutant), George Kennedy (Airport ‘77), Brion James (Blade Runner) and Kimberly Beck (Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter).

The Blu-ray arrives March 20, 2018 but you can pre-order your copy today.

I remember seeing this one a few times. I thought it was really really bizarre

  • Nice to know that NIGHTMARE AT NOON is coming to DVD/Blu ray,for all we need now is more Wings Hauser films on the HD format as the likes of L.A. BOUNTY,STREET ASYLUM,DEAD MAN WALKING(1989),DEADLY FORCE,NO SAFE HAVEN,and THE ART OF DYING all are patiently awaiting to receive their long overdue DVD/Blu ray releases.

I prefer the original version, MUTANT (aka NIGHT SHADOWS).

MUTANT has been one of my favourite “zombie” movies for a long time now, since about 1984/5 when I first saw it, so when I found out there was a semi-remake called NIGHTMARE AT NOON I was really excited to track it down.
I eventually got it (funnily enough on a budget 4 movies over 2 discs for a quid dvd set – with surprisingly adequate quality – especially for how cheap it cost) and settled down with a few beers…..I was extremely disappointed with it. It was crap.

    • What? It’s a loose remake of Mutant? I’m afraid I’m heading down the same rabbit hole as you now…destined for disappointment it seems.

It’s worth checking out if you’re a fan of Mutant, personally I found it to be extremely disappointing, but you never know you may enjoy it more than I did. It’s worth tracking down if you can get it cheap (like I did – so I can’t really complain as it worked out at 25p per movie in the 4 movie double disc set) or if you get to see it on Netflix or something like.
