Doug Jones Getting His Fangs on in ‘Nosferatu’ Remake

Filming has begun on David Lee Fisher’s Nosferatu, a remake of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 vampire tale of the same name. Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth) is confirmed to be portraying the titular character.

Fisher directed the 2005 “remix” of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, which also starred Jones as “Cesare”. The interesting thing about that remake was that it used digital technology to “pull” the backgrounds from the surreal German film and use them in the updated version, giving it a very similar feel.

Apparently, that’s also how the Nosferatu remake is going to work, with Variety writing that Fisher is doing another remix operation utilizing, “…a mixture of live-action combined with colorized digital backgrounds recreated from the original film.

The film will also star Emrhys Cooper, Joely Fisher, Sarah Carter, and Jake Turner. No release date has been set.
