First Footage From Live-Action ‘Ghost in the Shell’ Adaptation Released
Five very short clips from Paramount’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the Masamune Shirow manga Ghost in the Shell have been released and can be seen below (let the videos finish to go through the playlist). As with the original manga and the anime, the footage here looks very “cyber punk”. Things are futuristic but sterile, with rich, almost vibrant colors that live in a cold, lifeless environment. I’m guessing that with this footage coming out that a trailer is just around the corner. We’ll be watching closely!
If you know the anime, you’ll probably recognize some of the shots. the one where The Major wakes up and sits on her bed next to a window is right out of the 1995 anime.
Ghost in the Shell tells the story of The Major (Scarlett Johansson), “…a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.”
Directed by Rupert Sanders, Ghost in the Shell stars Scarlett Johansson, Rupert Sanders, Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, “Beat” Takeshi Kitano, Michael Wincott, and Pilou Asbæk.
Ghost in the Shell hacks its way into theaters on March 31st, 2017.

‘Brine’ – Jennifer Holland Starring in Supernatural Civil War Thriller
Jennifer Holland (“Peacemaker”) and Dave Annable (“Lioness”) will lead the cast of upcoming supernatural Civil War thriller Brine, Deadline reports this afternoon.
B.J. Golnick (“Hunting Hitler”) will be directing Brine.
Brine follows a family of Confederate deserters who escape the Union bombardment of Fort Pulaski with a cache of stolen gold and disappear into the Georgia marshlands.
When they take refuge in a remote plantation house, what first appears to be salvation slowly reveals itself as part of something ancient, predatory and impossible to escape.
Jonah Wharton (Lioness), Sissy Sheridan (Chicken Girls), and Grayson Lay (Outer Banks) also star. The screenplay was written by B.J. Golnick and Jeremy Miller.
“Brine is a story about survival, but it is also a story about inheritance…The violence we pass down, the myths we create to justify it, and the cost of trying to break free,” Golnick previews.
“We intend for the film to feel intimate, historically grounded and deeply unnerving, as if the supernatural elements weren’t invented, but unearthed from the marsh itself.”
