Momentum Pictures has announced that they have acquired N. American rights for the period thriller Voice From the Stone, which should see a release in the first quarter of 2017.

At the gates of an isolated stone castle in the 1950’s Tuscany, a determined young nurse arrives to cure the mute heir within. As Verena struggles to bring silent Jakob back into the world, she finds herself submerged deeper and deeper into the hidden secrets of the castle.

Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”) will headline and will be joined by Marton Csokas (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring), Caterina Murino (Casino Royale), Remo Girone (Heaven), Lisa Gastoni (Sacred Heart) and Edward Dring (Nella Tasca del Cappotto). Eric D. Howell directed the film off of a screenplay by Andrew Shaw. The film is based on the Silvio Raffo novel “La Voce Della Pietra”.

Ian Goggins, Momentum Pictures’ Senior Vice President of Content, stated, “We’re excited to bring this amazing film to the big screen and to work with the talented Emilia Clarke on this project. Emilia has proven to be a versatile actor from her dominant role in ‘The Game of Thrones’ to her quirky, yet lovable character in Me Before You. We’re confident that her legion of fans will follow her in her new role in ‘Voice From the Stone’.

The film was shot on location in Italy.

The new horror movie from New Line Cinema and director Zach Cregger (Barbarian), the upcoming Weapons is assembling an impressive cast, with Josh Brolin (Dune 2) and Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel) recently signing on. Deadline reports today that Alden Ehrenreich (Cocaine Bear) is the latest actor to join the cast of Cregger’s new movie.

The upcoming Weapons is from writer/director Zach Cregger, who will also produce alongside his Barbarian producing team: Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon also produces.

The Hollywood Reporter teases, “Plot details for Weapons are being kept holstered but it is described as a multi and inter-related story horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”

Cregger was a founding member and writer for the New York comedy troupe “The Whitest Kids U’Know,” which he started while attending The School of Visual Arts. The award-winning group’s self-titled sketch comedy show ran for five seasons on IFC-TV and Fuse. He was also a series regular on Jimmy Fallon’s NBC series “Guys with Kids” and the TBS hit series “Wrecked,” and was featured in a recurring role on the NBC series “About a Boy.”

Weapons will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
