‘Wishmaster’ Franchise Blu-ray Set Coming from Vestron Video; We’ve Got the Art!

Be careful what you wish for. Unless you wished for this. In which case, thank you.

I revisited Wishmaster earlier this year (and dubbed it “the original Expendables of horror” for a fun article I wrote here on Bloody Disgusting), and found that I was still able to have a blast with the 1997 franchise-starter. Granted, it may not exactly be a very good movie, but it’s creative, ambitious, and loaded with awesome practical effects. I just can’t help but love that movie.

Of course, Wishmaster was followed up with three sequels that took the franchise to the year 2002, and if you’re a fan of the series, you’ll be delighted to know that the entire saga is soon headed to Blu-ray, in one collection, for the first time. From Lionsgate’s new Vestron Video Collector’s Series label comes the four-film Wishmaster Collection, and we’ve got first details.

We tip our hats to VideoETA for informing us that the Wishmaster Blu-ray collection currently has a street date of March 28th, 2017. The limited collector’s edition release includes all four films and features brand new cover art from Tom “The Dude Designs” Hodge, which VideoETA’s senior editor John Couture was awesome enough to send over to us. You’ll find that below.

According to the official selling features, the set will be “packed with amazing special features,” but we have no further details at this time. The films have been “restored and remastered.”

Bless you, Lionsgate.

Dan Stevens is everywhere lately, from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire to Abigail and the upcoming Cuckoo. We’re not complaining. Up next? He’s starring in horror movie The Ritual.

Al Pacino and Dan Stevens have both joined the cast of the upcoming exorcism horror movie from XYZ Films and director David Midell, Variety reports this afternoon.

Based on a true story, the film “follows two priests — one questioning his faith (Stevens) and one reckoning with a troubled past (Pacino) — who must put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman through a difficult and dangerous series of exorcisms.”

Variety details, “The film is an authentic portrayal of Emma Schmidt, an American woman whose demonic possession culminated in harrowing exorcisms. Her case remains the most thoroughly documented exorcism in American history.”

David Midell and Enrico Natale wrote the screenplay for The Ritual.

XYZ Films is planning to release the horror film theatrically in 2025.
