Hey, look at that. A movie being bumped FORWARD for a change!
We’ve just gotten word that Sony Pictures Animation has moved director Genndy Tartakovsky’s Hotel Transylvania 3 out of its original slot, which would’ve seen the third installment of the fun animated franchise hitting theaters on September 21st, 2018. A fitting date, given its proximity to Halloween, but given the sequel’s plot, the new date is actually even more fitting.
Hotel Transylvania 3, set on a cruise ship, will now see release on July 13th, 2018.
In the third installment…
Mavis surprises Dracula with a family voyage on a luxury Monster Cruise Ship so he can take a vacation from providing everyone else’s vacation at the hotel. The rest of Drac’s Pack cannot resist going along and once they leave port, romance zings Drac when he meets the mysterious ship captain Ericka. Now it’s Mavis’ turn to play the overprotective parent, keeping her dad and Ericka apart. Little do they know that his “too good to be true” love interest is actually a descendant of Van Helsing, arch nemesis to Dracula and all monsters!
Adam Sandler (Dracula), Selena Gomez (Mavis) and Andy Samberg (Johnny) are the first confirmed cast to return. It’s presumed that Kevin James, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, Fran Drescher and Molly Shannon will all reprise their voice roles as well.
