‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ a Jack Sparrow Origin Story?!

This brand new trailer for Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has a wicked surprise, it’s apparently a Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) origin story! Captain Salazer’s (Javier Bardem) motive comes when a young Sparrow takes everything from him. The CGI to make Depp look younger is pretty crazy…

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazer (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea – notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Benton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifull small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced.

In theaters May 26th from directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning, the entire cast includes: Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem, Kevin R. McNally, Stephen Graham, Golshifteh Farahani, Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites, Orlando Bloom, Paul McCartney, David Wenham, and Stephen Graham.

Are they still making these movies?!

    • Josh Blitzenbrox Myers

No, it’s an overly elaborate, early April fools joke

      • Matt Graupman

That would make more sense to me.

        • Josh Blitzenbrox Myers

Depp must need a new yacht

          • Matt Graupman

He must’ve lost a chunk in the divorce.

  • pablitonizer

well, it looks just a bit more entertaining then the shitty On stranger tides but I could be way too wrong

  • sliceanddice

why are you guys reporting this guff?

    • Josh Blitzenbrox Myers

I also wonder this. I’m not seeing much relevance to horror here. “Spooky” pirates based on a Disney ride does not equal horror in my opinion

      • sliceanddice

        Very true.

    Johnny Depp is shit.

    • Josh Blitzenbrox Myers

Eloquently put sir. Your argument is articulated, insightful, and frankly undeniable. Well done

      • Gambit

I used to like him, in the same way I used to like Tim Burton, but he’s just so one note. And has to put in a ‘zany’ performance all the time.

        • Josh Blitzenbrox Myers

I agree. His last few roles (especially Willy Wonka and the Mad Hatter) were awful one note characters. He’s definitely gone downhill

        • Tetra-Gramaton-Cleric

          Did you watch Black Mass?

I’ll concede he’s allowed himself to play very specific types for the last couple of decades but that film is a reminder of how much range he actually possesses.

    I look forward to this

What i wonder is, that over here in germany, this is market as the final adventure of Jack Sparrow. Is this the final of the saga? Then they better do everything in their power to go out with a bang. 4 was a disaster after the great third.

  • Honest

Is this the one where he’s an alcoholic who beats his wife or is that just off-camera

    • John Connor

No, this is the one where he marries a hot young piece of ass that seduced him so she could gain fame and then trick everyone into thinking he beat her.

If you can’t see the truth of that whole situation after looking into it (take a closer look at her) then you are unexperienced with women and reality.
