As evidence by this video, Couch Tomato presents 24 reasons Aliens and Resident Evil are the same movie. In the end, the narrator’s gun shot sound effects are what won me over.
What’s interesting is that Paul W.S. Anderson would go on to direct Alien vs. Predator and give plenty of homage to James Cameron’s sequel in many of his films.
I’m surprised I never noticed the similarities, especially since Aliens is one of my all-time favorite movies. This begs the question, if Resident Evil basically lifts its structure directly from a classic predecessor, why is it so bad? Maybe it’s not?! I guess it’s time to revisit it after all of these years…
