The New ‘Hellboy’ Title is ‘Hellboy’

Don’t say we click-baited ya.

Bloody Disgusting can confirm that Millennium Films and Lionsgate’s reboot of Mike Mignola’s “Hellboy” comics is no longer titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen and will simply be known as Hellboy.

The Descent, Centurion, and Dog Soldiers Director Neil Marshall is behind the camera on the new incarnation that will feature “Stranger Things” star David Harbour in the title role. Resident Evil‘s Milla Jovovich was just announced to play the film’s villain, the elusive Blood Queen. Ian McShane is set to play Professor Broom.

Aron Coleite is working on the latest draft of a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin and Mike Richardson are the producers. Hellboy is being executive produced by Christa Campbell, Lati Grobman, and Carl Hampe.

Marshall is targeting an “R”-rating for this new adaptation.

Rip that subtitle off like a band-aid.

    I hate it

Naaa I’m kidding, i don’t care. Doesn’t make me feel one way or the other.

I’m interested to see how it turns out

  • Necro

Yeah I was always looking to see a third film from GDT and Perlman. Obviously not anymore! So bring on Neil Marshall, I’ve liked most of his films and this is supposedly getting an R rating so I’ll give it a go.

  • Kaijudude

If it’s by the guy who did Dog soldiers. it probably won’t be half bad.

  • Vader the White

I wish they would keep the subtitle. It makes it easier for fans and who doesn’t want to see a movie called “Rise of the Blood Queen”?

  • Jada Maes

Ok, this was one of only two complaints (the other being this flick gets a rocket strapped to its ass while Del Toro got jerked around again, but that’s all philosophical now). Not the most original title, but miles above Rise of the Revenge of the Return of the Blood Queen.

  • Damn, That kinda sucks I liked the original title. At the end of the day though..I just want the movie. Call it whatever.
