Incredibly, Andy Muschietti’s IT is still a box office juggernaut, impressively coming in seventh place over the weekend in its seventh week of release. Domestically, the film has to date grossed $320,480,147, while the worldwide number has reached a staggering $653,280,147!
Unadjusted for inflation, that makes IT the highest grossing horror film of all time.
In celebration, we’ve just learned that the Stephen King adaptation is expanding to more than 2,500 screens throughout the country, now in its eighth week of release!
“As one of the year’s greatest success stories, IT is still going strong at theaters with repeat customers and first-time moviegoers making their plans to see it on Halloween weekend,” says Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis. “IT continues to wow moviegoers because it delivers a healthy dose of ’80s nostalgia, horror, humor, romance and adventure.”
Along with the expansion comes the 4-minute “Georgie meets Pennywise” scene from the opening of the film, which you’ve probably seen but can watch again below!
