Star Says ‘Children of the Corn: Runaway’ Coming in Early 2018

CHILDREN OF THE CORN

Dimension Films is currently sitting on both Hellraiser: Judgment and Children of the Corn: Runaway, neither of which have release dates at this time. It’s impossible to say what’s going on with either one – especially given everything going on with the Weinstein Company – but we may have some new info on the latter film today.

Over on Instagram recently, star Marci Miller noted that the new Children of the Corn movie was “coming soon,” subsequently replying to a fan with a February/March 2018 release plan. Miller plays Ruth in Runaway, the film’s main character.

Again, this is not yet confirmed, but worth a mention nonetheless.

“Runaway tells the story of a young woman named Ruth, who finds herself pregnant after escaping a murderous child cult in a small Midwestern town. Ruth struggles to spare her son the horrors of her childhood while trying to outrun her past.”

John Gulager (Feast) directed the new franchise film.

There is currently a search party out, searching for someone who is actually concerned.

“Don’t worry my child. You will (won’t) be found soon.”

  • Good. Also, Paul T. Taylor (the new Pinhead) says that Hellraiser: Judgment is coming soon. He says that Harvey Weinstein was the cause of the delay.

Not to get to excited after reading that, but with any luck hopefully it’s something that’ll happen waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy sooner than later! Thanx for sharing that!

      • Hopefully by October 2018. I hate that it didn’t get released in 2017, given that it’s the 30th anniversary of the original Hellraiser.

          Good point

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Children of the Corn already get a bunch of sequels that don’t relate to the book? It doesn’t seem we need another one. Part of me is also worried that they will do the same thing with IT.

    • Yes, and many of them have been either TV movies or gone direct-to-video. The upcoming film is reportedly a sequel to the 2009 remake (unlike 2011’s Children of the Corn: Genesis, which was yet another sequel to the original).

Interesting. Most of the movies don’t seem to have the best reception, but I look forward to checking them out.

        • If you’re a fan of trash cinema, they’re a decent watch. Nothing super memorable or groundbreaking abut them, but they work for what they are. If you keep your expectations low, you might get some enjoyment out of them.

Hope this sequel is better then the rest

  • I don’t know why, but even though each sequel seems a bit worse than the one before it, I find myself continuing to watch this series. Kind of like how it’s hard not to look at a car wreck.
