Easily one of my favorite actors right now is Mackenzie Davis, who saw her run as Cameron Howe on “Halt and Catch Fire” come to an end a month back. Having some other films under her belt already, including the excellent indie Always Shine and Warner Bros.’ forthcoming Blade Runner 2049, not to mention a pivotal role in one of the best “Black Mirror” episodes, she’s worked her way into a headlining role. Next up for her is the supernatural Amblin horror film The Turning, which is being directed by The Runaways‘ Floria Sigismondi, who also helmed a shit ton of insane music videos including Marilyn Manson’s The Beautiful People.
While Davis alone is enough to warrant a celebration, Variety just revealed that “Stranger Things” and IT breakout star Finn Wolfhard will also star in the forthcoming haunted house film adapted from Henry James’s novella “The Turn of the Screw.”
My reaction exactly.
In the film, a young woman hired as the nanny to two orphans is convinced that the country mansion they live in is haunted.
Wolfhard will play one of the orphans.
Floria Sigismondi is directing the film with Jade Bartlett penning the most recent draft from Chad and Carey Hayes’ (House of Wax, The Conjuring 2, The Conjuring 2, and The Crucifixion) original script. Scott Bernstein and Roy Lee are producing.
Production is expected to start in the first quarter of 2018.
