‘Victor Crowley’ Returns in Official Trailer for New ‘Hatchet’ Film

‘Victor Crowley’ Returns in Official Trailer for New ‘Hatchet’ Film

It’s his swamp. You’re just gonna die in it.

Adam Green’s Victor Crowley, the fourth installment in his Hatchet franchise, embarked on a theatrical roadshow last year, and Dark Sky will be bringing it to DVD, Blu-ray and VOD on February 6, 2018.

Ahead of the release, we got our hands on the full trailer, giving us our first real taste of Crowley’s return. We had previously debuted a teaser last year, but this full trailer runs just over 2-minutes long and presents us with the plot, along with some brutality.

Reunite with the swamp-dwelling slasher icon below.

Kalyn reviewed the film back in August, calling it “a straight slasher that feels more like the original [Hatchet] in tone and execution.”

“In 2007, over forty people were brutally torn to pieces in Louisiana’s Honey Island Swamp. Over the past decade, lone survivor Andrew’s (Parry Shen) claims that local legend Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder, Friday the 13th series) was responsible for the horrific massacre have been met with great controversy. But when a twist of fate puts him back at the scene of the tragedy, Crowley is mistakenly resurrected and Andrew must face the bloodthirsty ghost from his past.”

Featuring franchise stars Kane Hodder and Parry Shen, along with Laura Ortiz (The Hills Have Eyes), Dave Sheridan (Scary Movie), and Brian Quinn (truTV’s “Impractical Jokers”), writer/director Adam Green’s triumphant return to the director’s chair proudly assures an all-new, horrifying journey into the haunted, blood-drenched bayou.

Excited for this one! The last one, I think, had Danielle Harris in it and even though the movie wasn’t too good anyways – her acting in it was among the absolute worst I have ever watched. I am not overly critical about people’s acting skills as I just like to enjoy the film no matter what – but she has joined the worst actors list for me, right along with George Clooney, Rose McGowan, and that red head girl that was in Oculus (her acting was so terrible in that film that she actually gave me a headache watching her!) Having the man from Impractical Jokers in this, over Danielle, – we are already raising the bar as I am sure he at least attempted to act in it.

    • I loved Danielle’s role in 3, most of the acting in that movie is pretty awful anyway, I doubt any of the cast took the movie seriously but who knows maybe thats what Adam was going for, the film is campy as hell!

    • Grimphantom

Hey hey! George Clooney was Awesome as Batman, he had the bat credit card! XD

Joking aside, I did like him on voicing Fantastic Mr. Fox.

      • Tyler

LOL – he did have that credit card on his utility belt! Wow! My issue with George Clooney is that he plays the exact same role no matter what film he does. If you clip pieces of Batman and Robin together with any of his other films – you can’t tell it’s a different film unless his hair might be a tad bit longer. Anyways… he is the one that annoys me the most, as you can tell, mostly because he is always praised like he is the Pope.

        • DukeStKing

Exactly! And his head tilts while he’s acting.

          • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

That’s the awesome pooling to one side

      • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

But was he cool enough for bat nipples?

    • Kram Maniak

Complaining about acting in a slasher film is like taking a shower but complaining you’re wet.

    • NOCC Monkey

I agree. I recently re-watched them again back to back. I wasn’t a fan of the fact that they replaced the girl from the original with her for starters, but her acting in 3 was far from what it was in 2. To be fair, it wasn’t all her fault. They had her character go from a scared girl looking for her daddy and brother in 2, to a hard snarky bitch in 3 at the flip of a switch since they pick up minutes when the others leave off.

  • Looks absolutely NUTS. I knew I should have went to the surprise screening in Hollywood, based on the trailer this looks like everything I could ask for in a slasher. Going back to the roots of high body counts (or at least there looks like a fair amount based off the trailer), brutal deaths, nice camera work, etc. I don’t doubt for a second Adam really knew what he was going for when he said Hatchet 4 will be the closest to the original

  • J Jett

i’m not a huge HATCHET fan (they are ok) but this does look good!

  • The chicken man

February 6th? But I want it now!!

  • Blade

Dude I love these movies and I am so happy that brought Parry Shen back yet again. He is a series staple at this point lol

    • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

I’m kinda stoked about Chase Williamson too. I don’t even know why, I just dig things that contain that dude

  • le4therfac3

    that airplane set tho…lol

    • Christopher Nickerson

Which part? At the screening I was at, the exterior was a real. Plane according to green

      • le4therfac3

the interior. it doesn’t even look like a plane.

  • Hash-Slinging Slasher

Man, I wish I could love this crap as much as you guys do. I would be a much happier, unjaded, unbitter person. Sincerely.

    • Batmanfanboy

Most of the fun of horror is “crap” so lighten up or get lost!

    • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

It’s crap, but it’s beautiful crap. In a world saturated with uninteresting crap. You must learn to embrace it. Once you accept it for what it is the door opens and the fun begins

  • Saturn

So Hodder has played Crowley now the same times he did Jason.
Hopefully he’ll get to play at least one of those characters a few more times over the years…..

    • The next F13 film is the thirteenth one. I hope he returns.

      • steeler74386

I wish they would make a 13th one. Not no remake or sequel to the remake…like either in the winter or tie in Jason 9 and 10 or pick up where 10 left off. (Not in space but earth 2) would be great to see Kane Hodder in jason again!

      • Saturn

It would be nice – even if it’s only for the one last time, so he can say a proper farewell to the fans, before the franchise get’s another clean slate.

        • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

I’d be down for “CROWLEY VS JASON: THE FINAL CUT”

Sure, there’s be some insane split screening to overcome, but damn, I’m in

      • Necro

        That would be so perfect!

  • Hayden Koutras

Looks like so much fun. High body count, creative kills, and Kane Hodder is back as Victor Crowley. Couldn’t ask for much more from it.

    • I saw it at the road show, and it was indeed fun.

      • Tarman_85

Does the movie explain how Victor Crowley comes back after being killed off in Hatchet 3?

        • Yes

          • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

I’m guessing Cajun creole magic…which is cayenne based if I’m not mistaken

          • Tarman_85

Thanks! Had a feeling Adam Green would not disappoint.

      • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

Tried to get my best mate to go with me, but he just didn’t get it. He was like “that movie looks fucking awful man. Hard pass”

I was like “Yeah man, that’s what makes it so good! Don’t you get it? Haven’t you seen any of these? You may hate it but your going to love it. Trust me. Who gives a shit anyway, it’s an excuse for a road trip right? No?

…What the fuck happened to our friendship?”

  • Cheshire TrollCat

    Holy shit!!! Brian quin!!!!!!

  • Jesse Schultz

Jesus Christ, why can’t this dog shit franchise go away…just awful films. GIVE ME REAL HORROR. This a campy, unoriginal trash…

    • Jeff

      Oh STFU

    • Necro

      Some examples please

      • Jesse Schultz

Halloween (1978), Friday the 13th (The first 4 films), the original Nightmare on Elm Street, The Hills Have Eyes, Phantasm, The Evil Dead, The Exorcist, The Omen, Suspiria, Carrie, Alien, Rosemary’s Baby, The Thing, Christine…funny, all of these films are FAR superior and none of them came out after 1985. What does that tell you? Yep, they just can’t make them like they used to. There is not really one huge, unnecessary comical moment in any of these films, and that is the way that they should be made. There shouldn’t be films that take this genre for granted and make things so over-the-top that they are laughable and forgotten. Just like the “Hatchet” series. How could one Adam Green who claims he loves everyone of these films above make such unimaginative crap is beyond me. And, merely makes fun of the genre I grew up with, having nightmares. With the exception of his film, “Frozen”, he’s an abomination and shouldn’t be 500 feet near a camera making any type of film for that matter…you want to watch a recent, decent Independent Horror/Slasher, watch “Laid to Rest”. At least that film had some realistic tension with NO comedy. I actually almost had a coronary when I found out Adam Green DID in fact make “Frozen”. I was shocked that he even had it in him…so, that just proves my point with the “Hatchet” series. They are a joke, made to be a joke, made to be a comical embarrassment. That hurts even worse.

        • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

ANGRY TEXT WALL RANT TRANSLATION: Stuff was better when I was a kid. Everything sucks now. Everyone is bad and should be ashamed for even trying. And if those goddamn kids skateboard past my house one more time I’m calling the fuckin cops

*Toxicity levels in the above poster are unusually high and should not be experienced by anyone pregnant, under medication, or with a generally positive outlook on life

        • Necro

Cool I figured those are some of the films you would say but had to be sure. Oh ‘Laid to Rest’ was great! I gave it a lot of praise the other day in another article. I think it’s one of the best ‘slasher’ films post 2000, well both films are. I hope we get a third film as well. What did you think of ‘The Collector’ films?

          • Jesse Schultz

I really liked The Collector but I felt the sequel was just OK. They took it into a completely different direction that I didn’t agree with. There aren’t many post 2000 Horror films that I do like. The first Wrong Turn film was good, I thought horror films were off to a good pace from that film, and using mostly all practical effects was good to see. But, then a bunch or DTV sequels came out and ruined that franchise. However, The Descent is probably the best horror film to come out in the past 18 years. I also like the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre way more than the original, which is odd, I know.

          • Necro

I agree with you about the direction of ‘The Collection’, starting with a different guy playing the character. Now I don’t know why that was but there was just something about Juan Fernandez’s (The Collector in the first film) mannerisms compared to the guy who played the character in the next film. I do however love Gary J. Tunnecliffe’s effects in the film though. I can stomach the first two ‘Wrong Turn’ films. Now ‘The Descent’ was great, some don’t like part 2 but I really did, in fact I’d love to see Neil Marshall come back and do a 3rd part, but that’s my opinion. I see what you’re saying about the remake of ‘TCM’, I enjoyed it for what it was. Isn’t it funny how certain films seem to strike all the right chords sometimes? Even if it seems to go against everything you like or want from a film etc.

          • Jesse Schultz

I agree about Juan Fernandez. He just moved creepier. Well, how you mention “certain films striking the right chords”…You look at the Friday the 13th (2009) film, which I really enjoyed. People constantly complained about the series needing to go back to its’ roots, and wanted a camp-like setting, wanted Jason to be human again, wanted good-looking broads with great tits, and also wanted a good element of horror. Well, the film delivered on all of those fronts, and people still ripped it to pieces. It’s just very hard to please a horror audience these days. That’s why the “Hatchet” fan base really confuses me. The movies are a parody almost, a slap in the face…but, people enjoy them. I just don’t get it.

          • Necro

As far as Friday (2009) I heard most people say they turned Jason into more of a survival guy then just the ruthless killer we were used to. You know they had him setting traps, trip wires, alarms, and keeping a victim alive. Basically a leave him alone and go home and you’ll live type of guy. I personally enjoyed it, although I didn’t like the keeping a victim alive thing, that just didn’t fly with me. However I didn’t have a problem with them making him a little more intelligent than usual; the trip wires and alarms etc. And you’re right it definitely had the normal ‘Friday the 13th’ feel to the film overall.

        • Necro

          Yeah ‘Frozen’ was good!

    • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

Level with us…did they reject your fanfic script? Be honest. I’m sure that stings, but hey man, try again, you’ll get it.

Or were you rejected as an extra? There definitely seems to be some salt in your wounds over all this. I sense great anger padwan. Be mindful, that leads to dark side stuff

      • Jesse Schultz

No, sorry…I hate to burst your imaginary bubble. There isn’t a reason, nothing. None needed for just an OPINION on crap filmmaking that you think is relevant. I know it’s 2018 and you skinny jean wearing millennials have no clue how to take one. You have to decipher a characterized backstory for another to justify why you may think someone else hates what you find enjoyable. No, you’re just wasting time. The “franchise” just plain sucks and it is an embarrassment to the genre. That’s all, it’s pretty black and white to me. No, Kane Hodder did not butt fuck anyone in my family, nor did Adam Green piss on my Cheerios. It’s just bad, …(oh, wait…here it comes…) IN MY OPINION. I would love to see you function in everyday life…and, it’s PADAWAN, fuckhead.

        • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

You’re breaking my heart Jesse. I wanted you to be one of the good guys.

Nice rant though. Powerful. Edgy. I don’t get you, but I’m sure the brooders at Hot Topic do. They understand your “darkness”

Rage seems to be your thing so rage on edgelord. Drown me in your hatred. It’s better than crying and punching the mirror…again

    • DJ sTikInsEkT

if you knew the reason it exists you wouldn’t be moaning. George Romero said before he died he wanted Green to make another one. Green didn’t want to. He promised Romero he would. It is dedicated to Romero PLUS you only hate Hatchet because you compare it with Friday the 13th which is a huge mistake. the whole point of a Hatchet movie is for a throw back to 80s practical effect gore with a very very basic camp fire story tacked on. Friday the 13th movies were more story driven, and they tried give it an amount of high quality rather than Hatchet which is just to lay back and have fun and don’t worry about stuff.

  • Bleedsfromthesky

    Can’t wait!!!

  • Sorkin006

This looks like a Hatchet fan film…..still looks like fun but well not surprised they got away with filming this in ‘secret’.

  • Nicolas Caiveau

    I can’t wait, I love the first three movies^^

  • Barry El Beardo

I really like the Hatchet films but this looks like the worst one yet. So cheap looking. Having said that of course I’ll still watch it!

  • Jarle Solbakken Fremstad

Everything looks like it’s made of really cheap plastic, is it really that difficult to make a movie look like a movie and not a porn parody?

  • DukeStKing

I miss the good ol’ days when movies like this would actually make it to a theatre near you. Before dvd and ppv and all that. My friends and I would go see these no matter how low budget they appeared to be. Sometimes, we’d be pleasantly surprised, sometimes not. Back then, they didn’t show as much of the movie in trailers, so you wouldn’t know what you were getting. It was just another horror movie, and that was good enough for us.

  • Brad Tyler

I… CAN’T… WAIT!!!! I love the Hatchet films and really hoped there’d be more after the third one. This needs a UK release ASAP.

  • Necro

Well my collection is off to a good start, well will be anyway! I love these films! Some of the best ‘slashers’ since 2000 started! ‘Hatchet, Chromeskull, The Collector, and Art the Clown (All Hallows’ Eve & Terrifier) just to name a few.

  • Azwethinkweiz

    Super excited for this.

  • Flu-Like Symptoms

Looking forward to checking it out.

  • Meh (the best Hatchet sequel… yeah because 2 and 3 are terrible)

    • Josh Gastronomicon Myers

That’s kind of the point though isn’t it. I always got the feeling that these were intentionally bad, unless i misread it.

Don’t get me wrong, they are clearly awful, but I always thought they were a fun kind of awful
