Sasquatch Search ‘Big Legend’ to Make World Premiere at Portland Horror Film Festival

Published

on

In the five years that I’ve lived in Portland, I’ve discovered that Portlanders have many loves that they are extremely passionate about. Craft beer, weed and soccer may be the front-runners, but nipping at the heels is the Pacific Northwest love of all things Bigfoot related. There is something about the big, hairy buffoon that just appeals to those of us accustomed to gloomy days. That’s why it’s only appropriate that the newest film to take on the tale of Sasquatch, Big Legend, will make its world premiere in Portland, Oregon at the historic Hollywood Theatre during the 2018 Portland Horror Film Festival.

Big Legend stars Kevin Makley as an ex-soldier who ventures into the Pacific Northwest to uncover the truth behind his fiancé’s disappearance and finds more than bargained for after teaming up with a local hunter (Todd Robinson). The genre-studded cast includes horror icons Amanda Wyss, Adrienne Barbeau and Lance Henriksen. The film, a Papa Octopus Production, was directed by Justin Lee and filmed on location in the Pacific Northwest.

Wyss, Makely, Robinson, Lee and two of the film’s producers will be on hand at the festival to participate in a post-screening Q&A.

In addition to Big Legend, feature films include the Pacific Northwest premiere of Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, The Ranger, and the Portland premieres of Framed (Spain) and The Laplace’s Demon (Italy). The festival also features nearly 40 short films from countries including France, Spain, Brazil, Australia, Iran, Taiwan, the US, and Canada.

Portland Horror Film Festival will take place June 13-16th at the historic Hollywood Theatre in Portland, Oregon. With the goal of promoting and nurturing independent horror film, it is the first dedicated all-genre international horror film festival in Portland. Film programming is comprised of independent short and feature length horror films from around the world, many of which you can’t see on the big screen anywhere else. In addition to the aforementioned Big Legend cast and crew, this year’s Portland Horror Film Festival will feature guest appearances by the legendary Barbara Crampton and special effects wizard and Oscar winner Chris Walas.

Tickets are available through the Hollywood Theatre box office, both in person and online.

See you there!
