‘They Live’ 30th Anniversary Concert and Reunion Screening at Hollywood Horrorfest!

The World’s Only 30th Reunion Screening and Live Concert for John Carpenter’s beloved and timely They Live will take place at the Hollywood Horrorfest on Friday, July 27th (get tickets). This unique and star-packed fundraising event benefits the Vincent Price Art Museum in E. Los Angeles.

This incredible night kicks off with electronic music legend Alan Howarth – the co-composer of numerous John Carpenter soundtracks – receiving the Impact Award for his outstanding contribution to the horror genre. Howarth will then perform a very special concert of his work, playing music from Carpenter classics such as Halloween, Big Trouble in Little China, Escape From New York and of course They Live – a score that has come to represent so much more over the years.

“The blues score from They Live is now used as an iconic representation of modern Los Angeles,” said Howarth. “With the film, John Carpenter eerily and accurately predicted the cardboard cities that are now downtown.”

Asked about playing live on-stage, Howarth continued, “30 years ago, I never thought we’d still be playing this music and it’s a thrill to do it today.”

Immediately following the concert is a screening of They Live (1988) and a Q&A with Howarth, actor Peter Jason (who plays the leader of the resistance) and several other very special They Live guests TBA shortly (moderated by horror journalist Pat Jankiewicz).

Throughout the evening the festival is raising funds for the VPAM with some amazing They Live-themed raffles. Prizes (courtesy of 8BitZombiecom and Trick or Treat Studios) include deluxe They Live Rubber Masks, awesome Hoffmann Lenses, special They Live stickers & bubble gum and those ultra cool They Live shades.

Dress accordingly, wear sunglasses after dark and don’t forget your bubblegum.

Location – The Mayflower Club, 11110 Victory Boulevard, N. Hollywood, CA 91606. Doors open 6.00pm

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
