JU-ON: The Grudge is officially in development by Rising Star Games, and is looking at a 4th Quarter release in Europe, exclusively for the Wii. North American release date is still unknown. The game will be more about scaring the living sh*t out of you than action, and will let you explore a “haunted house” in order to do so. And a very positive thing for the game is that the original movie creator, Takashi Shimizu is very much involved in the development of the game.
You use the wiimote just like you would a flashlight to explore the game and such places like an abandoned warehouse, a dimly lit hospital and a mannequin factory. The game measures how much you jump and flinch when something pops out to scare you and that makes it harder to get through the game. “We are absolutely delighted to have secured JU-ON: The Grudge for a European release,” enthused Yen Hau, Rising Star Games’ product marketing assistant. “This is a renowned horror title not only in its native Japan but also in worldwide cinema. With Shimizu-san also heavily involved in the creation process of the game, this is as close as you can get to an interactive horror movie and is perfectly suited to join the Rising Star Games family.”
