I can't express how excited I am for Agnès Merlet's Dorothy Mills, which I hope is as cool as it looks. Today we finally got our hands on the trailer for the film, along with the international one sheet. Hitting theaters internationally this August, the Weinstein Company will release the film on DVD sometime in the near future. Jane Morton, a psychiatrist in mourning after the accidental death of her son, is assigned the case of Dorothy Mills, a 15-year-old girl from a small Irish island, accused of attempting to murder a baby in her charge. Read on for the trailer and one sheet.
English Trailer:
If YouTube pulls the trailer, here's a high quality look in French...
that chick freaks me out just from lookin at the trailer.......wonder if this is gonna be remade so that it is in english.....man looks like all the foreign directors come up with ORIGNIAL and scary movies. unike us who cant come up with anything good except for crappy remakes or remakes that should never be touched that are considered classics.
I won't give an spoilers, but I just saw the premiere at the Paris film festival (director and cast did a Q&A as well) and
1. that girl is just as creepy in real life
2. the director wasn't trying to make a horror film (and it shows!). She said she "only noticed it was scary after the fact." Whatever.
Pretty disappointing film and not at all the in the same family as recent French horror like "A l'interieur" or "Frontières" etc. This is a Franco-Irish/Euro co-production starring a Dutch actress (the shrink, not the creepy girl, they found her in Dublin).
One last thing--during the Q&A, a guy asked about influences (he mentioned Carpenter, for example) and the director wouldn't even admit to having seen many of the films mentioned. Contrast that with the Paris premiere of "A l'interieur" (Inside) last year, where the directors/writers were true fans of horror and were more than pleased to talk about their influences.
This film could rock. It has a little bit of the feeling of the Exorcist, especially the multiple personality thing.
