‘Poltergeist’ Remake Confirmed in Press Release

Published

on

After getting blasted by idiotic fan sites who claimed they “called Spielberg” (hahaha yeah, right), we kept on trucking in reporting that there was a remake to Poltergeist in the works. I’m not saying I am happy to report it, I’m just saying that it… IS. The news has first hit here on our site in November of 2006, and then we personally confirmed it here on November of 2007. This afternoon The Hollywood Reporter wrote a piece on the new ROBOCOP remake and within the article MGM confirms – for the first time in written form – that a remake to POLTERGEIST is in fact in the works. We’ll look into telling you who is in talks to direct and report back (I’m a tease, I know).

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
