Warner Bros. Lands Distro for Soderbergh’s ‘Contagion’
Deadline reports that Warner Bros. Pictures has secured distribution rights to Steven Soderbergh’s thriller Contagion, a massive budgeted ($60 million) genre film starring Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard and even Gwyneth Paltrow. Penned by Scott Z Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum, The Informant!), Contagion is an action-thriller about the outbreak of a deadly virus. The film has been fast-tracked with co-financing coming from Participant Media. This subgenre hasn’t been super successful by any means, so it’ll be interesting to see what a film with this kind of muscle and star power can deliver. This could move horror in a new direction if it’s successful.
