Welcome to another edition of Horror In Your House where Tim Anderson (Tex Massacre) takes you through all of the DVD/Blu-ray releases for the week. The highlight arriving in stores today, April 6, is Genius Products’ The Collector, Marcus Dunstan’s highly-anticipated quasi-Saw prequel that hit theaters last summer.

BLOOD FOREST: Midnight Releasing

The last remaining “Brave” of the Arkansas Cave Tribe, James Levi Wiley is caught in a race with destiny as Big Foot is rumored to be on the loose in the Ozark Mountains. A reporter from the United Kingdom, Virgil Williams, a drunk, is sent to Arkansas to get the scoop. As residents are mysteriously being killed, the town Sheriff is out to catch the killer as drama unfolds in the BLOOD FOREST.

BLOOD RED MOON: Midnight Releasing

Megan comes to a new town and falls in love with the mysterious Victor. Unknown to Megan, Victor is a vampire, a sad, lonely soul who has walked the Earth for some time. When a rash of murders begins to happen in town, Victor is suspected. Other than Megan, no one in town believes in Victor s innocence – while the real killer walks the streets – free to continue the hunt and the killings.

THE COLLECTOR: Freestyle

This slasher follows the story of handyman and ex-con Arkin, who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home. Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the property – and the family. As the seconds tick down to midnight, Arkin becomes a reluctant hero trapped by a masked “Collector” in a maze of lethal invention – the Spanish Inquisition as imagined by Rube Goldberg – while trying to rescue the very family he came to rob.

THE DAMNED: Indican Pictures

Six years after a violent car crash claimed her parent’s lives, Jesse is still trying to put her life back together. The situation is complicated by the fact that her parents virtually vanished, as did the accident wreckage and all police evidence. Looking for closure Jesse searches for clues leading her and a group of friends to break into an abandoned mental institution. But the building is far from deserted as the group discovers that a deranged doctor has taken up residence in the building’s underground — using Extreme Science to bring his wife back from the dead! Now all of them become the hunted as the doctor’s failed experiments come back to life – and Jesse, the Doctor and her friends become – FOOD!

ICONS OF SUSPENSE: HAMMER FILMS: Sony

Hammer Films made their name with monsters and vampires, but this third complication from Columbia Pictures – all new to DVD – proves they could frighten you without them. Topping the set is the uncut version of the futuristic classic THESE ARE THE DAMNED, directed by the legendary Joseph Losey. Peter Cushing and Andre Morell match wits in CASH ON DEMAND. Oscar
