Celebrated Music Video Director Shows Up for ‘Detention’

Bloody Disgusting learned of some really cool news as celebrated music video director Joseph Kahn will dabble in the horror genre with a new low budget thriller entitled Detention. The film follows a 17 year old who is given detention on the night of her prom. Over the course of the night her friends are murdered by a fictional horror movie icon! It’s said to be in vein of Scream with elements of Back to the Future (time travel is involved) and classic John Hughes teen films from the 80’s. Kahn won his first Grammy for Eminem’s “Without Me” video which also won the MTV VMA’s Best Video of the Year, as well as Best Director. His video for Muse “Knights of Cydonia” won the Los Angeles Film Festival Audience Award. He also directed Britney Spears’ “Toxic” and “Womanizer”, DMX’s “Who We Be”, Eminem’s “We Made You”, Gewn Stefani’s “Sweet Escape”, Korn’s “ADIDAS”, and many more. Shooting begins this August in Los Angeles.
