Look Out For More Alan Wake After American Nightmare

Alan Wake is a busy man this month. With the first game coming to PC on the 16th and American Nightmare due out the following week on the 22nd, fans are getting plenty of thrills and psychological action this month. While those two games are definitely worth getting excited about, I’d really like to have even more Alan Wake, wouldn’t you? I know you would, and thankfully, Remedy knows this too.

Joystiq had the opportunity to speak with Remedy about the series, and it sounds like there’s a very bright — and potentially digitally distributed — future in store for Wake and friends. “Hopefully, we’ll have one or two surprises. I don’t know, I’m loving the digital [distribution] side and we’ll see how that evolves, but just being able to give people quick access to bite-size chunks of gaming” said Remedy CEO Matias Myllyrinne. Remedy owns the IP, so that pretty much means they can do whatever they want with the series. Good thing too, because the developer seems incredibly passionate about it, and about trying exciting new things with it, like the digital-only American Nightmare.

Myllyrinne continued by saying We’ll certainly continue with Wake. Right now we’re focusing on getting the PC out next week, then getting American Nightmare out. And it’s too early to talk about what our next move is, but we’ve obviously put things into motion.”

What would you like to see from the series? A full-fledged sequel? More bite-sized arcade games? A multiplayer-centric game where you have to blast the darkness off your friends so you can shoot them in the face with your shotgun?

While you wait for Alien: Romulus, the folks over at Devilworks have cooked up their own slice of “mockbuster” fun with Alien Hunt, and we’re debuting the trailer here on BD this morning.

This brand-new sci-fi horror from director Aaron Mirtes (The Bigfoot Trap, Painted in Blood) is set for its US premiere on May 14, and you can find it on digital thanks to Devilworks.

You can exclusively watch the official trailer for Alien Hunt below, which looks to combine elements of Alien and Predator. This particular “mockbuster” has very little interest in hiding its inspirations, with the alien designs plucked straight out of H.R. Giger’s beautiful brain. Hey, if you’re going to pull from other movies, might as well take from the all-time greats!

In Alien Hunt, “On a hunting trip in the wilderness, a group of siblings discovers an abandoned military outpost on their land, but is it what it seems?

“Their trip takes a sinister turn when they find themselves facing off against a relentless army of extra-terrestrial beings. Suddenly, the hunters become the hunted.

“The formidable squad of alien soldiers will stop at nothing to wipe out the enemy and in an all-out, brutal battle for survival, it’s kill or be killed in Alien Hunt.”

Barron Boedecker (Escape Pod, The Bigfoot Trap), Brent Bentley (The Perfect In-Laws, Haunt Season), Deiondre Teagle (The Visitor, Painted in Blood, Death Ranch), Chelsey Fuller (The Bigfoot Trap, The Silent Natural), Jesse Santoyo (A Nashville Country Christmas, Potter’s Ground), and Adam Pietripaoli (The Bigfoot Trap, The OctoGames) star.
