Lionsgate – the studio behind the Saw franchise – have brought another horror film to the top of the weekend box office as Daniel Stamm’s The Last Exorcism opened with an astounding estimated $21.3m, although it did open in 600+ more theaters than Takers. We’ve already begun to hear buzzing that a sequel is already in talks to the $8m budgeted indie. Eli Roth produced The Last Exorcism before premiering it at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
